I've now entered the useless phase of the paper high. Twenty-two pages on one paper and it's still not done, though I desperately desperately want it to be. Feh.

So, I shall take a break and answer the five things meme from the other day. Featuring SGA, SPN, and WaT.

For [livejournal.com profile] dogeared: "Five (mis)adventures John and Rodney had at the cabin in Maine." bats! moose! blizzards! )

For [livejournal.com profile] flyakate: "Five times Sam was proud to be a Winchester." chronology )

ETA: And "Five Times John and Rodney Have a Moment Not Precipitated by Near Death and/or Hypoglycemia." no near death or low blood sugar )

For [livejournal.com profile] mardia and [livejournal.com profile] smeggin_amyk: "Five Ways Martin Plans To Kill Elena, And How Victor Helps." clowns and mad scientists )

And for [livejournal.com profile] mardia: "Five People That Fell For Rodney McKay Without Him Figuring It Out." mind/body; dualism )

In other news: A WEEK LEFT OF CLASS OH MY GOD. *fallover*

Speaking of being slow on the uptake, is there a sort of clearing house for challenge announcements? Because the first I heard of the MASSIVELY HUGE remix challenge was when everything was released, and the same is true with a lot of other things (like the R/T thing-a-thon), and I feel very stupid, slow, and out of the loop. But then, this is not new. *is very leaden*
aesc: (pout)
Yay, drabbles!

Mass disclaimer: I own none of it.

Stuff in parentheses are additional info., warnings, whatever. And for some reason, there are several AUs this time around.

In other news: [livejournal.com profile] 1fandom [livejournal.com profile] 1fandom [livejournal.com profile] 1fandom! I signed up for a pair of themes in WaT and SGA and it's terribly fun to write. Something different.
aesc: (Default)
Because I am too extravagantly lazy to do two separate posts, drabbles and icons both this time around.

Part I: drabbles! Actually, a lot of them are slightly over 100 words so they are technically not drabbles... My brevity seems to have left me.

ETA: While I'm thinking about it, I thought I'd let you all know that I've gotten a large amount of my fics (mostly older) moved over to their new page here. I haven't yet finished all the LotR and WaT stuff, but I hope to get a chance to do that in a couple weeks, once things quiet down.

Title: Displacement
By: HF
Email: aesc36 @gmail.com
Pairing: D/M
Rating/Warnings: PG13/Rish for naughty words, vaguely humorous.
Disclaimer: Not mine, not mine, not mine.
Advertisements: Eyefucking. UST. New Tech Guy POV. Coincidentally for [livejournal.com profile] wordclaim50 challenge #12, "humor," though it was written mostly because [livejournal.com profile] stillane thought it would be a great idea.

Notes: Some time ago, [livejournal.com profile] stillane and I noticed that New Tech Guy (who does have an actual name) was the target of Danny and Martin's displaced UST, and [livejournal.com profile] stillane suggested a fic should be written about it.

Displacement )
aesc: (fbi)
As has become my custom whenever I suffer from the inability to write, I ask people to request drabbles in any fandom and with any prompt of their choosing. Here's the newest round.

Rating/Warning: PG/PG13-ish.
Disclaimer: Without a Trace belongs to CBS &c. And the fangirls were sore aggrieved. Now & Again belongs to CBS too. This also grieved the fangirls sorely.
Advertisements: Crossover with Now and Again.
Previous chapters: 01 (with all pertinent notes); 02; 03; 04

Notes: I'm so sorry this took as long as it did... I realized about halfway through the chapter that there were some important things that needed resolution and I had no idea how to resolve them. Grah.

You should know that our time together is coming to an end )

In other news: For some reason, random keys on my keyboard are refusing to function. First it was 'P', which I managed to fix, and now it's my backspace key. I can't live without my backspace key. *grrrs*

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to finish some work and to continue worrying about tonight's ep.

It’s all a question of priorities, Mr. Fitzgerald. )

Challenge stuff: for [livejournal.com profile] wordclaim50, #23 (Crossover). My word is "find."

What you need to know to read this fic:
-Michael Wiseman is a former insurance exec who died under strange, vaguely drunken circumstances and whose brain was transplanted into the body of a genetically-engineered man (courtesy of Dr. Theodore Morris). He now lives a life of both high adventure and incredible boredom, as the whole "super-soldier" thing is very Confidential.
-Theodore Morris likes show tunes, science, and sarcasm. He and Rodney McKay would be cute together.
-Martin Fitzgerald and Michael Newman look an awful lot alike. It's scary how much alike.

Notes: I started this fic ages ago. Like, way way back--before S3 ended, even before I started working on the "A Long Time Coming" universe (which has since taken over my brain), but the story never really came together in any meaningful sense until now. It's still a bit wavery, but I hope that having it out in the world will inspire it (and me) to bring things together.

Seeing as it's been eons since I've seen N&A, I'm going almost entirely on memory. Just to let you know. And a quick bit of trivia: the first fanfic I ever wrote was for N&A. Crazy, huh?

Pretty fly for a white guy )

You'd think a short crackfic would be easy, but no. *eyeroll*
aesc: (map)
As I did a couple weeks ago when I had writer's block, I held another round of drabble requests for the flist and now present the results below for public entertainment and edification. For the SGA people, in my ignorance I have probably mercilessly slaughtered your favorite character(s), and for that I apologize (seriously, I feel like the biggest clod writing SGA). And, as before, I provide a mass disclaimer:

Battlestar Galactica belongs to SciFi&c., not me.
Harry Potter belongs to the almighty JK Rowling, not me.
Law & Order: Criminal Intent belongs to NBC&c., not me.
Lord of the Rings belongs to the Tolkien Estate and New Line, not me.
The Magnificent Seven belongs to MGM &c., not me.
Stargate: Atlantis belongs to SciFi &c., not me.
Without a Trace belongs to CBS &c., not me.

Spoilers are noted in the description, as are pertinent ratings/warnings and pairings.

And there you have it. Now on with the drabbles, arranged by fandom:

WaT

[livejournal.com profile] smilla02: Danny/Martin, based on this beautiful, inscrutable picture *wibble* - Where Are You Going: PG [references to 4.01, though the picture looks like it's from S1 or 2] )

Whew! Lots of drabbles this time around. Delightful, tremendous fun.
aesc: (Default)
Below are a whole bunch of drabbles I wrote in response to prompts provided by various denizens of my flist, and I post them here for mass entertainment. Before continuing, I should warn you SG:A-type people that this is the first time ever that I've written SG:A-type things; to make matters worse, I've not read much fanfic and I'm behind on episodes--so the quality may be questionable at best. Also, I should probably provide a disclaimer for all of the following.

Mass disclaimer:
Lord of the Rings belongs to the Tolkien Estate and New Line, not me.
The Magnificent Seven belongs to MGM &c., not me.
Stargate: Atlantis belongs to SciFi &c., not me.
Without a Trace belongs to CBS &c., not me.

Spoilers are noted in the description, as are pertinent ratings/warnings and pairings.

And there you have it. Now, on with the drabbles, arranged by fandom:

LotR

For [livejournal.com profile] mrkinch, who desired "rings, bright light, [and] pretty words": The Gates: Gimli & Legolas [if you wish to slash, feel free], G )

M7

For [livejournal.com profile] moosesal, who besought a drabble starring Vin, Ezra, and a wager of some sort: Monosyllable: Ezra & Vin, PG )

SGA

For [livejournal.com profile] mardia_, who wanted fluffy Rodney/John with Rodney freaking out over something: Last Things: McShep [vaguely], PG )

For [livejournal.com profile] lillyjk, who petitioned for jealous!Shep and Rodney as the object of someone's flirtation: Further on down the Road: McShep [sort of], PG )

For [livejournal.com profile] verstehen, who wished to see a drabble with the prompt "We were military in the past. Never did I think we might be again": Quondam: OC [gen], PG )

WaT

For [livejournal.com profile] frogy, who humbly requested Danny/Martin, with friends outside of work or lack thereof: Just Friends: D/M, PG; reference to 4.07 'The Innocents' )

For [livejournal.com profile] le_mot_mo, who prayed for Danny/Martin, NC17, with the prompt "The pain of the mind is worse than the pain of the body": What It Is: D/M, NC17 )

For [livejournal.com profile] lachli, who yearned for post-"Off the Tracks" (3.21) with Danny musing on the delights of forceful!Martin: Ends and Means: D/M , R; post-ep )

Addendum

For [livejournal.com profile] tanzy, who lobbied for D/M and the following quotation as a prompt: "We need not to be let alone. We need to be really bothered once in a while. How long is it since you were really bothered? About something important, about something real?" (Ray Bradbury): Something Real: D/M, PG )
