I did like this, the feeling of panic was real enough for me to lean in close to the screen and nibble on my lip nervously.

It does have the feel of being part of something more. It's like a snippet taken from an already established story - you've managed to give it that depth with just what you have here. I'd like to see what you made of it, if you could figure out the rest of the story.
