I've never liked character-bashing fics either (or ones in which the character is Wonderful And Unbelievable And Lovely And Everyone Bow Down To Their Perfectness Yay!), even though God knows there are several characters out there I really wouldn't mind dropping an anvil on at all *g*

No, the one who breaks Sheppard and McKay's relationship is Sheppard himself because he is fundamentally unreliable and confused
