The only point of this post is to say...
ZOMG I LOVE RODNEY MCKAY!!!!!!!!!
At first, the constant "Look at all the bad crap happening at the last second to thwart Our Heroes' Plans" made me quite prepared to dislike this, because it threatened to walk the episode into a corner, spank it, and then resolve the plot with something completely improbable and irritating that would leave me dissatisfied.
But then I realized that, essentially the whole thing is in Rodney's head, and that's exactly how he thinks, in terms of the worst possible outcome. So of course Niam would come back to life and consequently need to be destroyed for Rodney to continue living, necessitating a change in plans, but then of course Wolsey would have his mind probed, the systems would go back online at the WORST POSSIBLE MOMENT, Our Heroes' Plans would be discovered, and they would all die horribly.
Rodney's brain time obviously isn't narrative time, so you figure he has to compress 25/30 minutes of The Worst Case Scenario: Taking Back Your City from a Bunch of Pissed-Off Replicators into seconds of computation, reworking, and producing The Brilliant Plan That Will Save the Day, based on that one flash of inspiration, when Anonymous Replicator Guy activates the shield.
And of course, since we're in Rodney's brain, he and Sheppard get paired off together. *dance of slasher joy*
Other points of love: Gen. O'Neill, because he's so snarky and deals with Wolsey so well. And the end with Elizabeth was lovely, with O'Neill not quite knowing what to do and Elizabeth crying a bit--not much, but a bit. And Rodney winning a drama award in high school, and Sheppard teasing him about it, and yay! Yay yay yay.
And Elizabeth saying "Rodney, amazing!" and Rodney being uncharacteristically generous because THEY'RE ALIVE and HIS PLAN WORKED and eeeeeeee *spasms happily*
This? Has totally made my day. And possibly my week.
*rushes off topoke at "Wireless" sequel do actual work.*
