Am taking a break from finishing up "The Qualities of Silk," aka "my ![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-community.gif)
sgabigbang fic from HELL" to do a couple things.
1.) I have written the femslash! I'm ashamed to say it's one of the first times I've tried, but you know, it was a lot of fun, especially because I enjoyed writing Teyla and Elizabeth's sections of "Silk," and had toyed with writing them as a pairing in it but ran out of the time to make it happen. So, it happens here. Summary: The Lanteans have been able to explain a lot to Teyla--comic books, sports, automatic weapons--but not the double standard.
2.) Two new McKay/Sheppard-centric comms today, hurrah!![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
sheafrotherdon's mcsmooch, because really, can you have too much of John and Rodney kissing? And this looks really cool, mcshep_bound, the McKay/Sheppard-specific version of the circulating fandom journal. I'm really excited about participating, though it'll be weird to see fic and art in a place other than my computer or my Moleskine.
3.) Never say 'couple' when there are three, but I'm doing this to tormentchebonne:
Like the rest of the Lanteans, John sticks with the bruschetta, which is almost like pizza, cheese and crackers, and the skewers of actual, non-spreadable chicken. Rodney, despite having to deal with the attentions of five people, stands ferocious guard over his plate, and the circling waiters have learned to leave him alone.
John shifts a bit to watch him, the black fabric of his tuxedo jacket stretching and folding across Rodney’s shoulders as he gestures, fingers and wineglass painting out equations, illustrating the breadth of his audience’s collective stupidity. Nonono, Ancient technology doesn’t work that way, how many times – He shifts, taking one step forward, and John’s mouth goes maybe the tiniest bit dry at how Rodney’s dress pants show off his ass more than is decent, or good for John’s health.
That's for putting the images in my head in the first place and making it hard to concentrate on fic I should be writing. *sticks out tongue*
4.) This just occurred to me. I wonder what it would be like to throw all caution to the wind and write something either 1) I don't read, as a rule, or 2) I never even considered writing, like genderswitch or mpreg or over-the-top wayyy OOC emo fic. Or, you know, het as the primary pairing. (Which I swear I have never, to my knowledge, written.) Kind of an expand-my-horizons sort of thing, in the spirit of trying out spinach or skydiving. Will have to consider this.

As soon as I've recovered from the horror of writing 9K in a day, I'm so on this. The plot is there, but no brain power is left to produce it.
