you can kind of understand why Batman's so touchy and depressed all the time.
Yes.
To share my own car woe--I had some friends over for a get together at my apartment and while we were all just hanging out, having some drinks and grilling (this was summer) when there was a knock at my apartment door and it was the police. They asked if I owned the kind of car I owned and when I said yes, I was informed that someone had hit my car. While it was parked. The idiot had been not paying attention and managed to screw up the back of my car as he hit it. To make matters worse, he gave me his name and some insurance info that was a false (his name wasn't, luckily) and so after a week or two of calling I got nowhere. Luckily where I was living there were regular cop patrols, so the police came onto the scene not long after the accident, so they got the license plate of the car. They figured out who owned it and... yeah, the kid who hit me was borrowing the car from his friend, whose mom (the owner of the car) didn't even know about the accident. Surprise! There is a happy ending thought. She paid for repairs. I hope your story has an equally happy ending. Or at least a satisfying one.
