ohhhhh my head

There has been very great, excruciating pain since Sunday morning, which is a sign that it is not my usual Spring Celebration sinus headache, but a sinus infection. Given the amount of time I spend being congested, I'm not surprised, but that doesn't make it hurt any less.

Fortunately, there are drugs; unfortunately, they destroy my coherence, so I am posting this before I go back to sleep:

turkey!verse, God help me.

At some point when Rodney wasn't looking, John managed to fly all the way out to the coast of Maine, which is kind of amazing considering the ocean looks nothing like the stream they cross every day. What's even more amazing is that Rodney's followed him all the way out to the coast, a turkey in a strange land, to convince John to come back.

Rodney accepts that he isn't an especially brave turkey; his forte really lies in staying safe, finding food, the trees that most effectively block wind, the things that are so crucial to self-preservation. On the other hand, John's forte is doing incredibly stupid things, like hanging out on the side of what Rodney has decided to call a road, the hard track the humans like to take their noisy, smelly contraptions on.

A turkey could be crushed under those things like a ripe berry in a bear's jaws. He tells John this, and adds shrill, urgent sounds to impress upon John the importance of going back across the road right now before any more humans come along. There's one of their contraptions lying in wait on the side of the road Rodney needs to get to, grumbling to itself. Rodney tries to keep one eye on it and the other on John's shifting restlessness.

"The creek's that way," John says impatiently.

"No, the creek is on the other side of the road," Rodney squawks. He shoves at John, who glares, flaps his wings and shoves back.

"Is not."

"Oh, who was it who led us all into the ravine that one time?" Shove, peck, flap.

"That was not -- " Flap, flap, sidestep, shove, "--my fault."

"Was to!" Shove, shove, flap.

"Not!" Push.

"To!" Shove.

By means of his natural cunning and adroit maneuvering, Rodney manages to push John over to the side of the road closest to their woods--their woods which are, it occurs to Rodney, very far away. It's a long flight, Rodney thinks despairingly, and hopes Teyla and Ronon are going to send help, or possibly food. There's not much to be found along the side of the road-thing, only something crushed and pulpy that Rodney hopes did not once have feathers.

"I told you the creek was this way," John says, puffing out his chest and striding back into the woods. Rodney glares death at the tail John has fanned in self-satisfaction. "Come on, Rodney, it's a long way back."

"Tell me something I don't know," Rodney sighs, and follows John back home.

Oh, I know those sinus infects, so well *gives you a water pot and starts the steam a-going*

Also: you consistently make me think man-killing birds that smell worse than anything else ever are adorably cute. You win :)

Heeeeeee. I've had a crappy day (though no sinus infections, so I think you might win on that account) and the thought of Turkey!John and Rodney having a slap-fight helped make it a bit better. :) Hope your head feels better soon.

I never knew it was possible to make turkeys cute, and yet you do!

As for the sinuses, may the drugs display their power in a rapid and mighty fashion.

And, you know, feel better. ♥

Oy! The turkeys! They are so awesome! I would like John and Rodney turkey shaped stuffed animals to squeeze tightly.

You poor thing! Sinus infections are the pits. *smishes you gently* Perhaps you need John and Rodney stuffed turkeys to squeeze?

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-04-11 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you! I'm feeling a bit better today, mostly just tired of being medicated and feeling like my sinuses are co-opting my eye sockets *blah*

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-04-11 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you! Am still moderately gross, but on the mend :)

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-04-11 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
Yis, turkeys bring a smile to my face!

Though I can no longer eat turkey... After writing the boys as turkeys, I just can't do it!

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-04-11 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
Boys make everything likeable! \o/

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-04-11 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
I think the boys bring the cuteness quotient of a lot of things up by a whole lot.

Mostly the drugs have been displaying their power to make me sleepy and marginally less achy, but I will take that as a good thing :>

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-04-11 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
Yay turkeys!

And awwww, boys. I love that scene ♥

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-04-11 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
Turkeys!!! \o/

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-04-11 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you! I've spent most of the past several days with my eyes closed, but I'm feeling a bit better today, so I hope I will be able to change my routine fairly soon :)

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-04-11 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you! Am slowly on the mend :)

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-04-11 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
You know it! :D

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-04-11 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
Ohhhh, I would love John and Rodney stuffed turkeys. I would also love John and Rodney *siiiigh*

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-04-11 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
Heh heh, it's a good thing he has Rodney to find him and shove him back on track! :D

And thank you! Am slowly on the mend :)

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-04-11 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
TURKEYS! \o/

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-04-11 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
Heh heh... turkeys. It's still kind of odd to think about :D

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-04-11 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
*hugs you up!*

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-04-11 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you! Slowly my sinuses have stopped acting like the sinuses from the Black Lagoon :)

And for some reason, John and Rodney seem to work very well as birds :D

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-04-11 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
Awww! I'm happy the turkeys could help! They didn't help my headache very much, but they did make me smile :)

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-04-11 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
It's like a soundtrack! :D

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-04-11 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
Heh heh, and I saw in the paper the other day that wild turkeys have taken to attacking mailpeople (http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/04/07/ap/strange/main4000369.shtml) in Wisconsin :D

[identity profile] lavvyan.livejournal.com 2008-04-11 08:51 am (UTC)(link)
Oh god, tell me about it! Ever since I started that stupid flower porn, I have such a bad conscience eating my beloved sunflower seeds. I feel like I'm eating sunflower!John's unborn babies or something. *facepalm*

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-04-11 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
It occurs to me that writing John and Rodney as a variety of animals would be a great way to go vegetarian. If I can convince myself that they would be really good as beef cattle and write them as such, I will be a good part of the way there :D

[identity profile] lavvyan.livejournal.com 2008-04-11 04:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I think I already read that one. *g*
