Gosh, these are adorable and so very unique! Well done you. I really think you should watch Supernatural and most definitely Torchwood and then you could make some wonderful icons for those shows too. You'd love Torchwood, honestly, you really would *g*. I was right about SG:A, and you really need something to replace WaT in your life and what better than Captain Jack and all his sexploits?

I have to admit, I have the first season of SPN on DVD, and the first episode of Torchwood, but I haven't had the time or concentration to devote myself to them. I have a big project I'm finishing now, so I hope maybe I'll get some time this weekend to catch up a bit.

Of course, it doesn't help that everyone who got me into SGA (you, Mardia, lilyjk) has led me down the dark path of obsession, so that probably means I'm screwed. *sigh*

Oh, yeah, I forgot...

Do I need to know anything about Dr. Who to understand Torchwood? I know, I know, I should probably watch that too, but a girl only has so much time, y'know?

LOL! Even I wouldn't try and persuade someone to start watching a show that's been going for over 40 years, that's a hell of a catch up *g*.

You could always just watch the 5 eps that Jack was in of Dr Who, they really are incredibly good and should be very easy to get hold of. The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances introduce him (IMO one of the best DW stories ever written and well worth watching, you also get a real understanding for Jack the conman in this one), Boomtown is a filler in the middle and could be missed (although it has about Cardiff and the rift), then Bad Wolf/Parting of the Ways are when everying goes to Hell in a handbasket in more ways than one.

There are some basics you don't need to know, but that do help with understanding the character and some of the things he says. Jack has a bit of an epiphany because of his meeting with the Doctor and Rose, the Doctor shows him a better way to live his life and that he doesn't need to be alone. He loves sex, doesn't matter whether it's male, female or alien, if he fancies it he goes after it and he usually gets it *g*. He's incredibly charismatic and attractive and in Torchwood the darkness and angst just add to it.

Because of events that happen Jack dies and is brought back to life and subsequently left on a space station in the future, the Doctor and Rose go and leave him. Mainly because the Doctor is busy regenerating, but the Doctor does make a throwaway comment that Jack is going to be busy with other stuff. Jack feels abandoned though, doesn't understand why they left him, which plays into how the character has become darker and more angsty.

The only other thing that you need to know is about the Doctors hand. In the Christmas special the Doctors newly regenerated hand is cut off and falls to earth, somehow Jack has this hand and keeps it in a jar on his desk. I find it quite creepy, but he's very attached to this hand and seems prepared to go to some lengths to keep it safe. It might seem odd if you didn't know that it was the Doctor's hand, but I think it seems odd either way *g*. Not sure what he's expecting of the hand and I've already read one dubious fic over what Jack gets up to with that hand, LOL. I think it's just a last link of what he had with Rose and the Doctor and he can't let it go.

We have no idea how he got back to earth or how he got involved with Torchwood, I'm thinking that will all get dropped in along the way.

LOL! Indeed he is, fascinating character, as is the guy who plays him. Hee, in one interview he was asked who Jack would like most the woman interviewer or the man, his answer was the top half of the woman and bottom half of the man! Think John fancied them both himself, he's terribly wicked in interviews. Watch any of his Loose Women or Richard and Judy interviews on YouTube and you'll see.

You should also watch the clip where he kisses the Marias on the search for Maria, they none knew it was coming and their reactions are hysterical, my God he knows how to kiss. Wouldn't mind being his leading lady!
