Oh, SixApart, you're dumber than a bag of hammers.
Really you are.
(I'm aesc on GreatestJournal, by the way.)
I wish I could be of more use in helping with Fanarchive, but I have no coding, legal expertise, or money. Maybe I could use my amazing Make Everything Be The Way I Want It To Be powers. *sigh*

This is just screwed up.

In many, many senses of the word, yes.

LJ/6A is on one of its nonsensical campaigns again, only this time they're deleting and banning HP fanart people (http://community.livejournal.com/innocence_jihad/159327.html).
I seriously think that for the stupidity alone fandom should pull stakes and leave.

I'm on LJ mainly for the people, if enough people move, I'll move too.

I could really go for a magic wand right about now :/ Or, barring that, an actual smite button of my own.

I hear you. I come for the show (or the book or movie) but stay for the people, and the way LJ seems determined to screw around with my community and my friends... GRRRRR! It makes me mad.

I found that entertaining in a "Oh my God, are they pathetic" kind of way. Bag of hammers.

While LJ may piss me off sometimes, what with all the recent wank, fandom-wise and banning/suspending-wise, I love it here. I'm too at home to even consider leaving. Personally, I think some people are just.. overreacting and trying to make a scene. (I don't mean you, just in general.)
Sure, if someday I get pissed off enough (mainly if LJ starts attacking SGA, though I can see no reason why they would), I may create a GJ, or some other journal, as a backup. But I'm good for the moment, and I definitely don't feel like I need to do such a thing. I've got all my fiction backed-up on my website, and I know it's safe there.
*shrug* maybe it's 'cause I really don't care about HP :X
and I don't like Harry/Snape, but that doesn't matter at all in this case.no subject

That said, I am the_acrobat on GJ; I created the account mainly to keep up with friends if there *is* an exodus, and I might start using Semagic to post across lj-clones (word is you can do that) if enough people go. Which, I suppose, weakens my political position significantly. But this is my community they're messing with.

There's something depressingly Foucauldian about the situation with LJ, and what GJ/IJ/other LJ clones will eventually become. And, that said, that's mostly what my GJ account is for at the moment, though I'm sure any fannish diaspora will take people to various corners of the internets.
Which, I suppose, weakens my political position significantly. But this is my community they're messing with.
That's exactly it, and beyond what happened to the artists, is what makes me really mad. The whole strikethrough thing, while it vexed me as an issue of private-sphere censorship (and really, there's nothing you can do about a private company decreeing what you can/can't do in its space), really made me angry with the way it screwed around with my community and my friends. I don't take kindly to that sort of thing.

I'm bummed, because with every new scandal, more and more folks think of leaving and one of these days they're actually going to move to somewhere else. I like it here, dammit. *shakes fist at LJ*
