of life and of love and wings
Thank you so so much to everyone who's wished me a happy birthday! I am very fortunate this year in that festivities will run over into tomorrow, when I will blow off most of the day (except for class, grr) and watch SGA3 until I can't see straight and then, as dessert, watch A Dog's Breakfast. So my Birthday, Phase II will be brought to you by John, Rodney, and David Hewlett :>
So I just wanted to say thank you to
just_ruth for the lollipop (*licks happily*),
loozy for the really cool birthday fonts,
smilla02 for the bears (and P. for the sexy kiss),
mems_derynicat,
lavvyan,
rilestar for the noisemaker and the beautiful
mrsdtaylor as well,
beeej for balloons (*inhales helium*),
neevebrody for the chocolate cupcake (and you are always very welcome for porn and picspams!),
xenachan for the vanilla cupcake (*devours*) and
hilarytamar for the one in advance,
le_mot_mo for bears 3 and 4 (and the moment you have time, you and I are so doing something arty together!),
pollit,
newkidfan,
aervir,
discord26 for the big sparklies,
mabiana, and
_elvie for the awesometasty birthday card!
And also, also! Birthday awesomeness continues because people wrote stuff for me and it is all awesome and wonderful, all of it! Today I got three (THREE!) Nantucket ficlets ([index]):
dogeared's hot, lovely [Do Not Disturb, set after "Life's Work"], in which Rodney finds home in his anonymous hotel room and John still smells like the island;
siriaeve's Let Every Traveller Be Found, in which John finds his way home and Rodney finds his way to John's side; and
sheafrotherdon's Birthday, in which Rodney makes extra sure that John has a great birthday and the two of them are beautiful and imperfect and everything
That, and! And!
themadedevil's Jumper, part of her Bookstore AU, in which there is a puppy. PUPPY.
*snarfles all of you* I feel as though I should have something, mathom-like, but alas, nothing is finished and nothing is done, so I will give you all a poem by Marina Tsvetaeva, whom I discovered by accident in the university bookstore while looking for something else. It's not really a birthday poem, or happy, but it's lovely and causes thought.

"A kiss on the head" (1917)
A kiss on the head--wipes away misery.
I kiss your head.
A kiss on the eyes--takes away sleeplessness.
I kiss your eyes.
A kiss on the lips--quenches the deepest thirst.
I kiss your lips.
A kiss on the head--wipes away memory.
I kiss your head.

(Create your avatar pops up at the top. I didn't want to register and just took screenshots when I was finished.)
I don't actually like the Simpsons at all, but this was fun to play with.

*snuggles* And I just love your icon! That's from one of my favorite screencaps of all Rodney-time--his "oh my God, my insane, brilliant plan worked and we didn't die!" look. He's just so HAPPY there!

p.s - I have even more respect for your wonderful graphic creations now that I've had the painstaking experience of painting a layer mask around John Sheppard's hair! :p

In my defense: this is the first time I've looked at LJ all day and it is still the 17th.
So: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!

Hee! I've never layer-masked Sheppard's hair before! Usually I just crop and hope it doesn't look too ridiculous.

Michael Shanks, Christopher Judge, and a discussion about furries. (http://youtube.com/watch?v=YFzDq6AnR5I) Watch this clip first, because it has a great transcript to help you understand what's happening, although at a certain point, explanation is DEFINITELY not needed--although tissues and a sedative to stop the laughter might--and then watch this clip (http://surrealphantast.livejournal.com/346325.html?thread=6362581) because it's got an even better angle.
All I can say is, I'm in the computer lab, headphones on, and it is literally all I can do not to start howling.
