.hurray for mid-day quasi porn

It's time to add another thing on the happy list, and that is spontaneous quasi-porn in the middle of profoundly boring work.

Context: Holiday cards and because I have none of these things at the moment, my wish for cold, cold New England nights involving a fireplace, hot chocolate, and boys:

[livejournal.com profile] sheafrotherdon: naked boys, on the rug, Rodney between John's legs, dragging his body over John's, rocking, rocking, kissing him as if they have all the time in the world . . .
[livejournal.com profile] aesc: ... and, you know, John would be all bronze and shadows in the firelight, which is all the light they have.
[livejournal.com profile] sheafrotherdon: You win for the world's fastest recorded breaking of a cates. *falls over*
[livejournal.com profile] aesc: \o/ Woo hoo!

This is much more satisfying to me than the narrative bibliography I just finished (though that was actually quite happy-making), and infinitely more so than the reading I have to start. Please, no more Ricoeur, I cannot take him.

Also, WHERE THE HELL IS MY WINDOW???? *wants*

.eta: Rodney always makes me smile. How adorable is he? And how awesome is [livejournal.com profile] crysothemis?

Your brain is a spectacular place to visit.

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2007-11-14 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
But you would not want to live there. Believe me :D

[identity profile] amberlynne.livejournal.com 2007-11-14 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
*snort* Well, probably not, if it's anything like mine. But I like to visit the island that your John and Rodney inhabit from time to time. ;)

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2007-11-14 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee! I would not mind it myself.

And I thought of you and Nantucket!John when the Patriots beat the Colts a couple weeks ago, and how unbelievably smug and happy and pleased John would be, and how the Patriots might be looking at a perfect season, and then Rodney would come out with some statistic relating to how likely that is to happen and be kind of surprised and horrified by devoting some of his brain cells to football, and so John would have to grin (smugly) and kiss him (smugly) and point out that anything's possible.

[identity profile] amberlynne.livejournal.com 2007-11-14 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Me and Nantucket!John. Gimme a second. I think my brain might be stuck on that for the next, oh, 6 years.

Ahem.

No. Wait.

Okay, now I am back! And heeee! Yes. As I was unbelievably smug and pleased over it as well but with no astrophysicist to smooch. John could then ply him with print outs of posts from FJM (http://www.firejoemorgan.com/) about how baseball is all about statistical probability until Rodney gives up and spends all baseball season checking and rechecking his numbers before getting his own smug on when he correctly predicts the World Series winner down to the number of games and the MVP. Heh.

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2007-11-14 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
And looking at Rodney's tables of equations and his prediction that the Red Sox would sweep the Rockies (hey, New England/Colorado again! it was Patriots/Broncos in the fic *g*), John would of course be overcome with lust and forego going out to celebrate the Sox winning by celebrating in private *suggestive look*

I love that my first thought on seeing your comment was "Hmm. Wonder what the boys would look like together when wet?" And then that made me think of Doppelganger, and then them naked after the episode, and, well... mmm.

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2007-11-14 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
\o/

I also thought "I wonder what the boys would look like, damp and covered in foam? And, supposing in the great tradition of Aliens Made Them, what if it made them do something?" *eyebrow bounce*

You have good thoughts, and interesting ideas! I wish to subscribe to your newsletter. *props chin in hands, bats eyelashes at you* C'mon, I already wrote them and sex pollen, it's someone else's turn now ;)

(Actually, while I'm talking to you, may I take advantage of your knowledge of the US educational system and ask you if there is in fact any better college/grad school review website than the Princeton Review? It's crap and frustrating me.)

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2007-11-14 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)

On the list at the moment is actually an anti-sex pollen fic :D :D

if there is in fact any better college/grad school review website than the Princeton Review?

Urg, no I don't! I took the GRE years ago (6-ish, I think), and that was before online review tools really became available. I just borrowed the library's hard copy of the Princeton Review, though I think given where you are, you'd have to pay for your own copy. (Which would then be totally useless after you took the exam of course, but that's the idea, you see.)

I wish I could tell you more about the exam itself and try to be helpful that way, but the other big difference is I took the exam a couple years before whoever's in charge of these things decided to change the format, so I'm not sure what it involves anymore :/

Ooooh, daring!

Urg, no I don't! [...] but that's the idea, you see.)

Oh, well, thank you anyway! I thought I would ask on the off-chance. I have the Princeton Review's Guide to the GRE, but that makes me alternate between thinking it might be okay, and making me hyperventilate. What's a $170 on a test between friends, right? Eek.

It's just that you people have so many universities! What do you need with so many... My shortlist currently has about the same number of universities as there are in my entire country :/

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2007-11-14 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)

I think that is the standard response. For what it's worth, humanities programs are much more interested in your scores on reading comprehension and (I think, if the exam still has it) writing, no so much in trigonometry. And they'll weigh your writing sample and recommendation letters more than the GRE. I can't speak to the transcripts because your grading works differently *g*)

Heh heh :D Sometimes I'm not sure, outside of the general observation that Americans want to feel like they have an embarrassment of choices, no matter the situation. There is probably an actual explanation, but I honestly can't think of it at the moment :D

I hope so! My verbal scores far outweighed my maths score when I sat the SATs. Admittedly, that was when I was 14, but I doubt there's been a huge change since then.

I can't speak to the transcripts because your grading works differently *g*

Erk, yes, I know. I have Cate trying to help me convert my grades to a GPA thingummie, which is not so much fun, given that my university only marks undergrads out of 80%

There is probably an actual explanation, but I honestly can't think of it at the moment :D

*g* Well, it might very well be because there are about fifty times more Americans than Irish ;) But still! So maaaaany.

John in firelight? On a soft fuzzy rug, all cat-like, langourous and sprawled, with jeans and boxers riding low on his hips, flickering light making the muscles appear to dance...

thank you for that mental image!
