pictures and things: 'Traders,' noir!John, watch aesc pretend to be productive

The past two days have been characterized by very great exhaustion. While it's a change from feeling like my sinuses are trying to invade my eye sockets, I'm not terribly crazy about it. My brain laughs at the thought of managing plot (I can hear it cackling) or anything much more complicated than playing with Traders screencaps of unbearable quality yet unbelievable adorableness.

There is no sad Grant here, just him being goofy and weird and with the hands. (*flail* I can't help it, I love him and may possibly be addicted.) And there's also some noir!John, who is having his backstory turned over between decongestants.

Cone of silence!

He is such a dork, and I love him SO MUCH.

And hey, some icons! These will go up for real with the slowly-assembling collection in a couple weeks, I hope. But, in the meantime, feel free to take.

I've been doodling away at the noir stuff between other things and sinus infections. In the spirit of The Long Goodbye, John Sheppard is a disgraced Air Force veteran, pulled alive from the wreck of his P-51 Mustang in the North Sea. No one knows how he survived, but a few people have guessed....

Seen around: you comment with the start of a sentence, I reply with the rest of it. These can be fannish (e.g. John Sheppard and Dean Winchester like to) or personal (e.g. If I could smite one person in the world, it would be), or whatever, really.

Oh man, I had to think about this for a while :D

When John Sheppard met Grant...

Jansky, he called Grant "Rodney," which sounds nothing like "Grant" and he'd followed Grant all the way back to his room, which was weird but Jack said it was okay but with one of his looks that means a lot of things Jack doesn't say, and he knew about chaotic forecast models but kept getting Grant's name wrong and Grant was pretty sure he'd remember if he had another name because he remembers everything, but he doesn't know what forgetting feels like.

Ooooh... I wonder how John ended up there. Poor Grant must be so confused.

Hmmm. Assuming Traders happens contemporaneously with SGA and not almost a decade before, maybe Rodney and Grant are identical twins who didn't know the other existed? (And Rodney ended up with the McKays as part of his adoptive mother's attempt to shut her family up about reproducing.) And John ends up back on Earth and Dave drags him to Gardner-Ross for some family-related financial matter and John Sheppard meets Grant Jansky.

Or maybe it's a weird "Tao of Rodney" AU and Grant really is Rodney, de-ascended and those crazy Ancients decided they're tired of sending people back amnesiac so they concoct Grant's history and make it Rodney's and John finds out as above.

The adoption story doesn't really work, since Rodney looks so much like his sister. Unless it was adopt-two-kids-for-the-price-of-one over at Kids'R'us that day?

Oh, those wacky ancients. :D That could work, and would make sense too.

Or if Grant's birth mother is Rodney's mother's sister! There could still be a family resemblance, and it would be the uncomfortable family secret that no one talks about, the responsible sister cleaning up the mess the other one left (I think it's pretty much certain Grant was not supposed to happen). Which actually works out well because these days Margaret McKay has as little to do with her family as possible.

You know, she finds out that she's awarded tenure the same day that Meredith has his first allergy attack and that she realizes she's missed her period by a mile.

DRAMA!

Or if Grant's birth mother is Rodney's mother's sister! Oooh, the plot thickiens. See, this is why you're the writer and I'm just a lowly reader. ;)

DRAMA FTW!
