-Web Shoppe (http://www.xentrik.net/): sadly no longer updated so some of the links from the main page don't work. However they do all seem to work from the site index (http://www.xentrik.net/sitemap.php) and she has awesomely helpful and understandable articles for newbies (or people needing refreshers).
-w3schools (http://www.w3schools.com/default.asp): most of their articles are slightly more technical in nature, but they have nifty try it yourself demos for codes, where you can manipulate a code to see what'll happen. (Random example: Setting text colour in CSS (http://www.w3schools.com/css/tryit.asp?filename=trycss_color).) It's very helpful for getting the feel of a new bit of code.
