Why are you "aitches"?

Hee, a couple fandoms ago, I used to write under HF, my initials (I think I've been on LJ for so long that aesc replaced it), and I still sign my emails with 'h.' At some point, sheafrotherdon picked up on that and started calling me "aitch"/"aitches" since that is more or less how you pronounce 'h' in isolation, like when you recite the alphabet :D
