visit magical Meredith!

My parents have lived in New Hampshire for a while now, and I have only now finally achieved the perfection of the union between being in a particular place and having my camera at the same time. (And by "having my camera" I mean "having the camera and all requisite parts, including batteries and memory stick.")

The fact that my parents live near a town called Meredith fills me with untold, unreasonable glee and satisfaction. Likewise, there is a small seaplane-friendly airstrip (and Laconia Airport) nearby, which gives [livejournal.com profile] wagoneer!John the opportunity to make stupid remarks about flying into Meredith and send pictures of various Meredith-related signs to Rodney by his cell phone.

Meredith sits on the southwesterly shore of Lake Winnepesaukee, which is a gigantic lake that, as I discovered, takes forever to drive around. It, along with Laconia and some other regional details, have been transported west a bit, to the White Mountains, for hockey boys, should it ever be finished.

I just... Meredith!

The Magic of Meredith! Hee. My sister's name is Meredith :D That's just adorable.

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-06-27 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
:D It is a nice little town. Not magical, maybe, but nice! :D

Can we subscribe somewhere to experience the magic of Meredith? *signs UP!*

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-06-27 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
John gets to experience the magic of Meredith every day.

'Experience the Magic of Meredith'!

*sporfles*

(eeee! hockey boys!!)

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-06-27 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
John would have way too much fun with the Magic of Meredith :D

(eeee! hockey boys!!)

Fingers crossed!

*gives you an extra bit of Grant to cheer you up!*

I live a few blocks away from Ingram Street. Which, every morning, makes me smile.

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-06-27 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
That would make me smile too :D

[identity profile] clear-as-blood.livejournal.com 2008-06-27 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
:D John would just have way too much fun with that.

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-06-27 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, you know he would!

"Meredith, the sign says 'Meredith' three times. Meredith, Meredith, Meredith."

"SHUT UP!"

[identity profile] perspi.livejournal.com 2008-06-27 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, that is just...*sporfles*

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-06-27 10:21 pm (UTC)(link)
It makes me inordinately happy :D :D

[identity profile] lavvyan.livejournal.com 2008-06-27 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Ehehehe. John would so get a kick out of this. He'd probably take pictures of himself standing in some narrow alley and saying that, yup, that's him, right where Meredith's tightest.

[identity profile] perspi.livejournal.com 2008-06-27 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
OH GOD. *dies laughing*

[identity profile] lavvyan.livejournal.com 2008-06-27 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I wanted to make a comment first about basements or wine cellars and exploring Meredith's deepest recesses, but then I thought, nah. ;)

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-06-27 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Oddly, there is a small wine cellarish place just up the road and to the left of the sign :D It has good wine, too!

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-06-28 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
*snorts ginger ale across keyboard*

[identity profile] lavvyan.livejournal.com 2008-06-28 07:17 am (UTC)(link)
:D

My work here is done.

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-06-28 02:28 pm (UTC)(link)
And it was done very well! :D

[identity profile] dogeared.livejournal.com 2008-06-27 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Ha, you KNOW there's a crappy cell phone picture deluge! Poor Rodney. :D

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-06-27 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Ohhhh, I am sure there is revenge later on :D

[identity profile] lilithilien.livejournal.com 2008-06-27 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I love the repetition in that sign ... just so there's absolutely no doubt where you are. I'm a bit disappointed that the petunias don't spell out M-E-R-E-D-I-T-H tho. Seems like a lost opportunity.

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-06-27 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I love the repetition in that sign ... just so there's absolutely no doubt where you are.

Heh heh, I know! Just in case you couldn't distinguish it from Weirs Beach, which is just down the road :D (But is also, somewhat inappropriately, really touristy and tacky.)

[identity profile] ruggerdavey.livejournal.com 2008-06-28 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
Why have I never thought of that connection? Even on seeing the sign in your post, my first thought was "oh, yum! Hart's Turkey Farm is in Meredith!" *ponders* John would really love Hart's Turkey Farm, I think. Actually, Rodney would probably love them too - good food, huge portions. Mmmm...now I'm kind of hungry.

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-06-28 02:27 pm (UTC)(link)
"oh, yum! Hart's Turkey Farm is in Meredith!"

Heee, ever since I wrote the boys as turkeys (*is weird*) I find I can't eat there. I know, of course, that they have food other than turkey, but it's the principle of the thing :D

But yes, I think Rodney would definitely approve of it :D :D

[identity profile] ruggerdavey.livejournal.com 2008-06-28 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I can see your dilemma. But, yeah, the boys would totally eat there.

[identity profile] newkidfan.livejournal.com 2008-06-28 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
I just love it when rl and fandom mix. It makes everything more colorful! :)

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-06-28 02:26 pm (UTC)(link)
It never gets old! I have to drive through Meredith on my way to my parents' and I always smile, seeing the signs welcoming me to Meredith and inviting me to experience its magic ;)

And I can't wait until you post your pictures from your trip!!!!

[identity profile] newkidfan.livejournal.com 2008-06-28 02:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Speaking of trip, I may have sent you a little something and I'm suddenly worried you may have moved since you gave me your address...

And I will post the pics asap. :)

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-06-28 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
*snorfle!* The most recent address is here (http://aesc.livejournal.com/299517.html); I changed it temporarily for while I'm away, but anything sent there will be forwarded to NH ♥ ♥

And I will post the pics asap. :)

Yayyyyyy!!!! *cavorts*

[identity profile] kimberweeme.livejournal.com 2008-06-28 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
I nearly choked on my cherry limeade when I noticed that the sign says "Experience the Magic of Meredith." HA! That's classic.

Poor Rodney would never, ever live it down. Maybe he could turn it to his advantage? Threaten to withhold the "magic" for a few days?

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-06-28 02:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe he could turn it to his advantage? Threaten to withhold the "magic" for a few days?

Ohhhh, I definitely think so!!

[identity profile] lilyfarfalla.livejournal.com 2008-06-28 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
I can't stop giggling to myself. Experience the Magic!

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-06-28 02:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee!! I know John would be allll over that :D (And Rodney would get tired of it very quickly and say, "If you want to experience the magic of Meredith ever again, you'll quit while you're ahead.")

[identity profile] toft-froggy.livejournal.com 2008-06-28 03:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee! John would turn to Rodney very seriously and say, big-eyed, "Turn off here. I want to experience the magic of Meredith."

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-06-28 04:02 pm (UTC)(link)
And Rodney would be torn between turning off because, hey, there might be hot roadside sex, or at least making out, but on the other hand he'd really like to inform John of how very not funny or attractive that sort of remark is.

Possibly he could do both.

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-06-28 04:03 pm (UTC)(link)
:"> :"> Thank you! I am sure, however, that Rodney doesn't appreciate it ;)

[identity profile] ladyoflisquill.livejournal.com 2008-06-29 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)

Oh my god! Want so badly ::grabby hands::

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-06-30 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
Heh heh, Rodney would be driven to incoherence over the number of photos John sends him :D
