This is what my brain does after being forced to contemplate things like Latin and grant applications and proposals.

aesc my aunt and uncle watch Antiques Roadshow every night, and we were watching it last night and I kept on thinking about Rodney being the scary antiques appraiser (like, a specialist in old instruments or science fiction illustration or whatever) who bitches at people for bringing in pieces of unmitigated CRAP they shoveled out from under their disaster areas of basements, and takes delight in telling them that the violin they THOUGHT was a Stradi-whatever is a ukelele and how much did they pay for it again? well, stupidity has a high price tag

aesc and then John wanders in one day, clutching the neck of a guitar and saying he thinks it might be, you know, kind of old

aescand Rodney really wants to shout at him, but can't, because the guitar is an actual, proper antique and is worth MONEY, but he can grumble and snap a bit because John sort of drawls out these careless answers to Rodney's questions, like, he needs a minute to turn over the very standard "so how did you acquire this?"

aesc and after Rodney rants on a bit about taking proper care of VERY RARE VERY DELICATE instruments, John asks him if he wants to go out for coffee

aesc he's not entirely sure why Rodney ends up on AR, since it's usually a very... family-friendly show
aesc and John usually doesn't associate withering insults with public television

aesc and when he found out that AR was going to be in his town... well, even though he had absolutely no intention of selling his guitar, he got tickets right away
