This post will out-cute Cute Overload

You have been warned. I finished my mooshy, cuddly cowl last night after a marathon knitting session, and its cuddliness (which you may see behind the cut) hath inspired me with the muse of cuddliness.

ANATOMY OF A CUDDLY

A. DELIGHTED SMILE OF GREAT ACCOMPLISHMENT
B. Bright orange fleece for maximum cheerfulness
C. Hand gestures of "I have just illustrated my awesomeness"
D. Cuffs of bright orange fleece pulled down over wrists

THAT is how you make a cuddly.

Finn has his nasty, vaguely anthropomorphic toy in his mouth and he wants you to see it. And then he wants you to try to take it from him so he can run away from you, shaking his head and being fearsome and impressive. And then you will be jealous.

This is the first time I've tried (and finished) knitting something in the round, a cowl adapted from this pattern. IT IS SO WARM AND CUDDLY OH MY GOD. (I, however, am not a warm or cuddly thing.)

And now, a meme I stole from [livejournal.com profile] kashmir1!

N'awwww! It's wet and cold and foggy and I want a cuddly Rodney to warm me up! (I'll share with John)

That cowl looks really cuddly! What yarn did you use (sorry, it's a knitter thing)

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-11-29 07:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, Rodney, so cuddly! There should be enough of him to go around.

The yarn I used here is a bulky (US 11 needle) merino mix from hobbledehoy (http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=23459). I buy her stuff when I am feeling indulgent and want to make something for myself :D

[identity profile] dogeared.livejournal.com 2008-11-29 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)
eeeeeeeeeeeeee, your cowl looks SO FAB!! \o/ You have inspired me to make headway on my Rodney cowl today :>

*bothers Finn*

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-11-29 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Yayyyy Rodney cowl!!

*Finn is bothered*

Fleeeeeeeeeeece!!! Yay for cuddly things! :D

7. Dream vacation: Istanbul/Hagia Sophia

Gah!! At my job, I have spent many (so very many) hours going through hundreds (oh, hundreds! possibly thousands) of photos of Hagia Sophia. It makes me twitchy now. I am sure it is a wonderful place to wander through in person, but I am quite sick of the zillions of architectural photos from oh-so-slightly-different angles (though I know they provide thrills to the scholars). And there are still more photos. *twitch*

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-11-29 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
That is very sad! I have always wanted to go... I'm a huge medieval architecture geek, and Hagia Sophia is, well :D

[identity profile] amberlynne.livejournal.com 2008-11-29 05:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Naaaaaaaw. I feel warmer and fuzzier already!

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-11-29 07:31 pm (UTC)(link)
WAAAAARM FUZZIES, dammit!

[identity profile] franticsga.livejournal.com 2008-11-29 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Your hometown is where I live! Well, I'm in Brockport, but still.

Also, lookit Rodney and his wee smooshy self. I love that orange fleece with a scary adoration.

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-11-29 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
You are right down the road!

I love that orange fleece with a scary adoration.

As do I. Possibly that's the first thing I fell in love with when I saw "Rising"... the orange fleece. I mean, it's so ORANGE.

[identity profile] franticsga.livejournal.com 2008-11-29 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I love that one picture of David Hewlett with Mars, both of them snoozing away on the couch, wearing the orange fleece.

[identity profile] kimberweeme.livejournal.com 2008-11-29 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Rodney! Rodney is the epitome of cuddliness. *cuddles him with fondness*

Finn is a cutie! It makes me think of that Petsmart commercial with the little dachsund and his toy. You know the one?

I love your cowl. It looks warm and cozy and pretty! I was a knitting fool for weeks and then, about a month ago, I just stopped. I have so many projects waiting and I am too lazy!

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-11-29 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Rodney is SO CUDDLY in his fleece, I wish we could have seen more of it.

Usually I go through phases when I knit like a fiend, but then just... stop for long periods of time. I've got one thing started now that I need to finish, and another project I'd really like to start (fingerless gloves!!) so I just need to stay in my knitting headspace for a while longer ;)

[identity profile] kimberweeme.livejournal.com 2008-11-29 09:01 pm (UTC)(link)
He should break out the orange fleece on Atlantis. We could fall in love with him all over again!

Yeah, I have 2 projects in various stages of completion, 2 or 3 projects I'm supposed to do for friends for Christmas, and no motivation. Alas!

Is the fingerless gloves pattern you're using online? I've been looking in books and haven't found anything I really like yet.

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-11-29 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I am going to try these (http://knitty.com/ISSUEsummer06/PATTfetching.html)! They are rather cute-looking :D

[identity profile] sheafrotherdon.livejournal.com 2008-11-29 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
How do all those little cartoon people add up to 'shy'? *curious*

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-11-29 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
That is from IFF (http://flickr.com/photos/terva/2237382797/), "Imaginary Friends Forever." It is one of the most adorable t-shirt designs I've ever seen... I wants one :D

[identity profile] sheafrotherdon.livejournal.com 2008-11-29 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
OH! Well that makes much more sense :D *is dense cates*

[identity profile] pollitt.livejournal.com 2008-11-30 07:01 am (UTC)(link)
Wonderful adorable cuddliness! The yarn knitted up very awesomely :D

I adore your shy photo :D

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-11-30 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
It's such a cute t-shirt! I wants one! :D

[identity profile] madeline871.livejournal.com 2008-11-30 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I love the colors you used in your knitting. Gorgeous!

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-11-30 05:05 pm (UTC)(link)
It's such a fabulous yarn, so soft and squishy, and the colors are so cheerful! Definitely what I need to go with my black coat and the grey weather :D

[identity profile] highonstargate.livejournal.com 2008-11-30 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)
oh wow! That looks so warm!! The colours, the appearance of softness. *cuddles in it*

Also, The cheerfulness of Rodney!:D Love the cuffs over wrists! *sighs with contentment*

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-11-30 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you!! I am already quite addicted to the cowl... I have it on right now :D

And Rodney in his orange fleece makes me so unbelievably happy. How cuddly he is :D
