titles in search of stories
I was flipping through the Notebook looking for something completely unrelated to fic (for the curious, a bunch of references for a research project that I had written in the Notebook because I didn't have any other paper with me), and I came across a few titles with absolutely no context or story ideas. And I am befuddled, because clearly I meant to do something with them, and there may indeed have been ideas connected with them originally, but I got distracted or something and now... they're simply there.
A Verb for Ascent (J/R)
Clearly a John/Rodney story (duh), and it's a while back in the Notebook. It just appears after a set of scribbled invective demanding to know why the hell I couldn't get another story (my
sgabigbang fic, heh) to work.
The Hidden Land
No clue, except the title is from a Flecktones album. It's definitely SGA, because it appears some ways back and the SPN stuff doesn't start until recently, but I know nothing beyond that.
A Slightly Odd Man with Enormous Wings
Castiel story, because the title is adapted from Gabriel Garcia Márquez's short story "A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings," but what I meant to do with it, if anything, is still a mystery.
This Island Life
Okay, it's from the Violent Femmes. And?
Old evil spirit (take that Greyhound bus and ride)
I think this is SPN, mostly because the title is a line from Robert Johnson's "Me and the Devil Blues." Then again, I might just have written down the line because I like it a lot.
I am willing to entertain suggestions as to what to do with these. Cos I've got nothing.

I don't know what they'd be doing on said island, exactly.
Maybe Rodney's a billionaire recluse and John applies to be the caretaker? (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/7830692.stm)

And man, I would not mind that job... Although I think I would spend most of my time testing the comfort and resilience of numerous deck chairs :D

Although not much feels porny when you are congested and gross-feeling, as I am at the moment *sigh*

1) John and Rodney playing word-games (Scrabble? crosswords?)
2) Rodney taking pilot's lessons (either AU or in canon)
3) crackfic: John and Rodney as albatrosses

Rodney and John are underwater volcanoes that develop into an island chain. Their foreplay involves sending waves to lap up against each other. And of course, eruptions = orgasms. And when they finally build up enough sediment to both rise up out of the ocean, John's all, "Hey, you." And one day they both have eruptions so extreme that afterward, they find they have actually joined together in the middle, becoming one single island with two separate peaks, linked forever.
(Until, you know, oh shit, what about those earthquakes?)
Disclaimer: LOL I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT GEOLOGY

Har har, I know nothing about volcanoes either!

John is used as an Air Force base!
:3
ITA that Rodney would grumble a lot and threaten to erupt if the ppl on him didn't, like, occasional climb up him and pour some coffee into his ...whatever you call the top of a volcano. *cough*

John is used as an Air Force base!
Yes yes!! Also, Rodney would mock John for supporting twenty-first century American imperialism by allowing the humans to build an Air Force base on him.
Is it at all odd that I can now totally see this working?

Probably Rodney would still make sarcastic comments to John about the military presence, and would boast about his own significance ("Well, I am supporting cutting-edge scientific research!"), but secretly, he'd feel a swell (maybe an ocean swell? hee) of affection for John and his stubborn refusal to lose any of his people.
I THINK YOU SHOULD WRITE IT DO IT DO IT DO ITTTTTTTTT!!! :D :D

(Actually, he was named Mt. Meredith by his original discoverer. John has never let him live it down.)

And then, there's the arguments about size, I'm sure.
"You know," Rodney says smugly, "there's a reason they're studying me and not you. It's because I'm so active."
"Yeah, well, frequency of eruption isn't everything, Rodney," John says sourly.
"Oh, sure, that's what they all say."
"I've got more land mass than you," John taunts. "That's why they picked me for the AFB."
Rodney is chagrined at that. "But land mass means nothing! Like I said, it's eruption frequency that counts."
"Sure, you just keep telling yourself that, Rodney."
"Oh, please, just because you can't get your lava up, you try overcompensating with other things."
"Hey!" John begins fuming, "I don't need to compensate for anything."
And so, the Air Force has to schedule an emergency evacuation of their base, when their island volcano suddenly starts erupting unexpectedly.

Ha ha, and you should totally write it, you're kicking ass with the thing goddam!

Haha, somehow it does not seem like I am breaking the rules if I only comment-fic, but if I were to post something in my journal, THEN I would be breaking the rules. XD
