Friday woo hoo!

Yay: New layout! [livejournal.com profile] casa_mcshep! SPN 4.13 (boyyyys)! Getting orangey Rodneylike yarn! Surviving yesterday! Aside from a 6-hour power outage yesterday afternoon, life has treated my kindly the past two days.

I think the best part, though, is just finally, finally being able to get things done beyond the bare minimum required to satisfy people. After a year--really longer, but the past year has been notable for its awfulness--of torpor and feeling lousy and chronically exhausted, having some get-up-and-go is such a relief.

To celebrate, a meme! Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] telesilla: Comment with a story I've written, and I will tell you one thing I knew, learned, or wondered about while writing the story that didn't make it onto the page.

[tags are here! And hey, if you have a question about the art, for that matter, ask it! I like talking about teh arts.]

Tell me more about John and Rodney, wild turkeys?

Turkeys! Well, they were inspired by the wild turkeys who live in the woods across from my parents' house, and [livejournal.com profile] dogeared and I somehow got talking about how the turkeys seemed to exhibit some John-and-Rodneylike qualities (there was one turkey who would fly up to the top of our crabapple tree and knock crabapples down, and another turkey would wait at the bottom and snap them up). The turkeys had this daily ritual whereby they would walk down the street, through our yard, and fly across the stream to the woods on the other side. Some hours later, they would be walking down the street again, going back the way they came.

When I went back to visit this year, I didn't see them very much at all, just a couple of times. However, the parents' cable and Internet went out on a couple of occasions, which led [livejournal.com profile] dogeared and me to conclude that Rodney, clever turkey that he is, has been pirating cable from us, and the flock is safe and snug in a tangle of bushes, squabbling over what to watch on TV :D
