.sunday drabbleventure links!; also: "am I the only one..?"

The turkeys were experimenting with pirating cable yesterday, so I had very inconsistent internets. Drabbles today, in consequence.

Now a couple other things I have been mulling:

1.) Am I the only person in the world who is sort of intrigued by the background stuff in photos that are posted online? For example, I am presented with a picture of a puppy romping on a living room floor, or, say, Jensen Ackles dressed only in chocolate syrup and whipped cream, and all I can think is "Wow, that is an awesome coffee table book collection" or "oh my god, those placemats are ridiculous"? To illustrate:

The subject of the photo is, ostensibly, the kitty who has wormed his way into the refrigerator, but what attracts my attention and speculative powers is the amount of beer, and the quality. Why so much beer? What does it say, or what could it say, about the owner/s of this refrigerator, and the cat inside it? So, instead of cooing over the cat, I inferred that the owner of this refrigerator is likely male, single (or living with other men; there are three cartons of eggs, at least one organic... belonging to the single put-upon vegetarian/hippie/health nut, maybe?), and probably college-aged, because that is truly a lot of Miller Lite. And five cans of PBR = five too many. Further supporting evidence: I think that's a gigantic container of salsa on its side.

I will also admit to being intrigued by pictures of people's bookcases, desks, and DVD collections. So... yeah. Please tell me I'm not the only one who does this.

2.) In the "am I the only person..." vein, am I the only person who experiences that paranoid frisson of excruciating discomfort when reading that an actor/producer/director has read fanfic? Probably it's only fair--we get to see what they do, so turnabout is fair play and all--but still. I want to take them by the shoulders and guide them gently out of the room and slam the door.

You, I would say, stay over there.

It's like, I know fan communities are hardly secret these days, and anyone who is half-conscious and knows about Google could find out about dirty rotten slash fanfic in .005 seconds, but let me preserve the illusion this is not the case. *flails*

Also, I wasn't sure what you could do to American beer to make it much more low-alcohol - since it's already heaps weaker than any other country's beer.

Ha ha, yes, so depressingly true. (It's true of beer and alcohol in general, sigh.) In case you are not horrified enough, there was a period not too long ago when non-alcoholic beer tried to make its way into the American market, but it didn't work because the below-21s still weren't allowed to buy it and, improbably, it tastes even worse than lite or low-alcohol beers. On the other hand, it gives the citizens of other countries a good laugh when American students go overseas to study and, dizzy with the knowledge they can legally get drunk at a much younger age, make complete asses of themselves in public.

What I find more disturbing about actors, etc reading fanfic is the idea that they might be reading the kind of stuff over at ff.net. D:

*throws up a little in mouth* At least it would cure them of the fanfic-reading urge awfully quickly.
