Five things meme & yes, paper high again

I've now entered the useless phase of the paper high. Twenty-two pages on one paper and it's still not done, though I desperately desperately want it to be. Feh.

So, I shall take a break and answer the five things meme from the other day. Featuring SGA, SPN, and WaT.

For [livejournal.com profile] dogeared: "Five (mis)adventures John and Rodney had at the cabin in Maine."
1.) John vs. the Bats The bats like the cabin's chimney; it's dark, cave-like, and hidden from whatever is out there that likes to eat bats. Consequently, they aren't very happy when John wakes them up while he's trying to open the flue, and much manly shrieking and running away ensues and one of the bats gets tangled in John's hair, and Rodney can't help John escape because he's laughing too hard.
2.) Rodney vs. the Moose Rodney may be able to build atomic bombs out of gum wrappers and shoestrings, but he's helpless before a moose hanging out in the middle of the road. John wonders what happened to the Great White North, and Rodney tells him to shut up, Lt. Col. Kill And Eat Them.
3.) Rodney vs. the Atlantic In which Rodney uses the excuse of being cold and wet to press up close against John while they sit on a rock and watch the tide, and John pretends and goes along with it, even though the wettest Rodney's gotten is up to his ankles before retreating from the Ocean of Imminent Death By Hypothermia.
4.) John vs. the Compass After making what seems like a round-trip through the Hundred Mile Wilderness, Rodney is never EVER EVER EVER going to let John near a compass again.
5.) Rodney and John vs. the Blizzard John's out doing stuff when WHAM! Blizzard! Much worrying ensues on Rodney's part until John comes back, and then much snowed-in!sex ensues. Hey, it's cliche for a reason :D

For [livejournal.com profile] flyakate: "Five times Sam was proud to be a Winchester."
1.) Third grade Like almost every other boy in his class, Sam had his father be the subject of his "My Hero" essay. His teacher and most of his classmates thought he was a bit crazy, saying his father hunted demons and ghosts for a living, but they were obviously idiots.
2.) First time He'd made his first kill at fourteen, a poltergeist haunting a local bowling alley, and his father had looked at him, grinned and said Good work, Sammy, and that was better than all the As and all the soccer trophies in the world.
3.) College applications It's a bitter kind of pride, but he sketches out his "disadvantaged" childhood, and wonders if it counts as pride, to admit that to people and not care, even though it's pretty much a ploy to help him get into Stanford.
4.) Funeral Because this is family, more important than anything, and though he hates his father for doing this to them--to him, to himself--he loves him for the same reason, and building the pyre, writing sacred text around it, sprinkling herbs over his father's body... The only other people who understand that are the dead man and the living one next to him, and there's pride to be had in that.
5.) Near-death Twice now Dean's come back, and though Sam knows he shouldn't take it for granted, he's started to wonder if it's impossible to keep a good Winchester down.

ETA: And "Five Times John and Rodney Have a Moment Not Precipitated by Near Death and/or Hypoglycemia."
1.) Labwork Rodney's gone, lost in a world constituted only by his laptop, his equations, and himself, and John finds that a bit sexier than it should be, and invites himself into that world with fingertips on Rodney's shoulder and lips against his neck.
2.) Fieldwork Rodney can't help it, John is hot when he's issuing orders, like when he's telling the grabby alien priestess to keep her hands off his scientist (even though he'd added "Rodney's very fragile," which was totally uncalled-for). The second they step back into Atlantis, Rodney hauls John off for their own private debriefing.
3.) Sunrise Three Days Later Not technically near-death, because neither one of them is dead, or has been near it for several days, but it's a quiet moment with the two of them twined together in John's bed, and John will take those moments when he can get them.
4.) Grocery Day Daedalus. Pudding cups and ice cream and chocolate syrup. A day off. Rodney doesn't need to be a supergenius to do the math.
5.) Birthday John's facial expressions are always fascinating, though they usually only express puzzlement, pleading, or a puzzlement Rodney knows John really isn't feeling, but now when John's staring at a set of discs containing Johnny Cash's complete oevre, smile hesitant and uncertain at first before growing, becoming truer... Rodney has to taste that, and John lets him.

For [livejournal.com profile] mardia and [livejournal.com profile] smeggin_amyk: "Five Ways Martin Plans To Kill Elena, And How Victor Helps."
1.) Death by Chocolate Victor looks at Martin witheringly and tells him he knows Martin can do so much better than that.
2.) Victor knows somebody He won't tell Martin because of plausible deniability, but apparently this guy can make people "disappear," like in the Godfather.
3.) The Circus Martin comes up with it, because the team is pretty sure a circus is responsible for several disappearances in the Tri-state area. Victor arranges for Elena to go undercover as a clown. Permanently. And if it's not the same as killing her, Martin reasons, at least it will drive her mad.
4.) The Tribe of Unga-bunga, No Offense Intended to Headhunters Victor "persuades" Jack to send Elena to go on a trip to a remote island in the Pacific in connection with a case involving a missing doctor who worked with Doctors Without Borders. The Unga-Bunga tribe--Martin's researched them--are headhunters with a definite preference for heads with unrealistically thick, shiny black hair.
5.) Mad Scientists, see #4 Victor takes Dr. Birkenstock into federal custody and conveniently loses him. Elena takes an unfortunate solo trip to a warehouse near the docks, and ends up with her consciousness transplanted into the brain of a duck.*

And for [livejournal.com profile] mardia: "Five People That Fell For Rodney McKay Without Him Figuring It Out."
1.) Ronon He always tells Rodney to trust his body, though really, he only trusts Rodney's body to have violently negative reactions to things like lemons and running. But when Rodney comes up to him one day, points to the practice swords, and asks Ronon to teach him ("even though it's all physics, really, force, momentum, et cetera et cetera"), Ronon nods and really, he more than has to respect that kind of determination.
2.) Teyla As an Athosian, she must value ingenuity and resourcefulness, to "make do," as Elizabeth says. One day she realizes that much of Rodney's bluster is "making do," a way to help him save them, and underneath she senses odd contradictions and complexities, a twisting track through the forest.
3.) Elizabeth She isn't supposed to, and had never planned on it, but she fell in love with Rodney because he doesn't think of her as a woman most of the time--as a friend, colleague, someone to pester or defer to as the situation dictates. Safe, then, even though she doesn't want him to be.
4.) Lorne Teyla somehow figured out he could draw, so she'd commissioned him to sketch a picture of Rodney for his birthday. And when he tried to catch the angle of McKay's mouth for the tenth time, and was on the verge of giving up, he had to stare at that odd, not-quite-got-it-yet smile and smile back. (Mar, this will be your request fic, I think *g*)
5.) John Maybe it was the game, or Batman vs. Superman, or the look Rodney gave him on that jumper years ago, terrified that John was going to die and he couldn't stop it, or the two of them vs. the Superwraith, the two of them flying a long-buried spaceship, the two of them, the two of them -- it's natural now.

* you may or may not remember the mad scientist fic from long ago :D

In other news: A WEEK LEFT OF CLASS OH MY GOD. *fallover*

Speaking of being slow on the uptake, is there a sort of clearing house for challenge announcements? Because the first I heard of the MASSIVELY HUGE remix challenge was when everything was released, and the same is true with a lot of other things (like the R/T thing-a-thon), and I feel very stupid, slow, and out of the loop. But then, this is not new. *is very leaden*

[identity profile] mardia.livejournal.com 2007-04-25 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
OMG SO MUCH LOVE FOR YOU AND THE FIC AND THE FITZGERALDS AND JOHN AND RODNEY AND EVERYTHING UNDER THE SUN.

Ahem. Sorry. That might have been a few caps too many, but I DO NOT CARE. For this was brilliant. Martin! Victor! Victor "persuading" Jack with the quotes! You know Jack had a migraine for a week afterward and he couldn't even complain because it's Victor Fitzgerald and it's Victor's son and really, he shouldn't even bother fighting it at this point. (This makes me want to write the crackfic where Jack oh-so-reluctantly comes to Martin's rescue and helps him get together with Danny. Yes, I have written this before, what is your point?)

And SGA! Why I have this weakness for LornePiningOverRodney, I do not know. BUT I DO. And I have this odd weakness for Rodney/Elizabeth, which I might write sometime, but nothing beats John/Rodney. They're natural. HEE.

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Smee! Thank you! :D

You know Jack had a migraine for a week afterward and he couldn't even complain because it's Victor Fitzgerald and it's Victor's son and really, he shouldn't even bother fighting it at this point.

Heh. It's pretty much useless to stand before the combined might of the Fitzgeralds. The FBI's lucky Victor and Martin use their powers for good.

And I have this odd weakness for Rodney/Elizabeth, which I might write sometime, but nothing beats John/Rodney. They're natural. HEE.

I can see Rodney and Elizabeth as good friends (which they are), but not together-together. Maybe it's the whole "I can't believe I have to be the maternal figure here" turn Elizabeth took in S3. But still! Good friends are good. (And I would love, some day, to see Rodney awkwardly and in his completely embarrassing/forthright/stammering way, to tell Elizabeth how he feels about John. Oh yes.)

[identity profile] mardia.livejournal.com 2007-04-27 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, they are very lucky indeed, but even more lucky that Viv doesn't throw her hands up and say, "You know what, I could manage this so much better" and then BAM! she's Supreme Leader of the World before anyone can even blink.

I could see Rodney and Elizabeth doing a friendly, loving, friends-with-benefits kind of situation where they both get orgasms without any strings attached, because they do care about each other, but not like that. Of couse, things get complicated when Elizabeth finally realizes that John's not pleased, and figures out WHY he's not pleased.

And I would love, some day, to see Rodney awkwardly and in his completely embarrassing/forthright/stammering way, to tell Elizabeth how he feels about John. Oh yes.

Um, I think you have given me an idea for my challenge fic. Mind if I snag? Because YES.

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2007-04-27 12:42 pm (UTC)(link)
even more lucky that Viv doesn't throw her hands up and say, "You know what, I could manage this so much better" and then BAM! she's Supreme Leader of the World before anyone can even blink.

And she so should be! It'd definitely be a better place.

Um, I think you have given me an idea for my challenge fic. Mind if I snag? Because YES.

*flail* asjfkl;fsfk!!!!! Oh my God, that would be the best thing EVER. Yes yes yes, by all means, snag!

[identity profile] eviltish.livejournal.com 2007-04-25 07:26 am (UTC)(link)
he's started to wonder if it's impossible to keep a good Winchester down

*snerk* Sorry, I'm tired but that did make me smile.

Death by Chocolate Victor looks at Martin witheringly and tells him he knows Martin can do so much better than that.

Why can I so see this in my head?

These were fab. Just the ticket to get my head out of my arse and get started on *shudder* work.

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Why can I so see this in my head?

Victor would give Martin his "Martin, you know how I hate mediocrity" look, and Martin, for once, would admit that he's right :D

Just the ticket to get my head out of my arse and get started on *shudder* work.

Don't say things like "work." Ick. *gazes woefully at her Huge Pile O'Crap*

Awesome. Love five things.

Victor takes Dr. Birkenstock into federal custody and conveniently loses him. Elena takes an unfortunate solo trip to a warehouse near the docks, and ends up with her consciousness transplanted into the brain of a duck.*

Oh Dr. Birkenstock *fangirls him* If evrything else fails (the headhunters, the clown career) he shall prevail!

and though he hates his father for doing this to them--to him, to himself--he loves him for the same reason
Twice now Dean's come back, and though Sam knows he shouldn't take it for granted, he's started to wonder if it's impossible to keep a good Winchester down.

Oh Sammy!

Vat? Vat's sat, yoo say? Of course Dr. Birkenstock will prevail! :D

*flails silently*

The very last bit of the very last one of the very last set = pure beauty.

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Eee! Thank you! That line just sort of happened :D I love it when things work like that.

[identity profile] dogeared.livejournal.com 2007-04-25 12:36 pm (UTC)(link)
HEEEEEE oh my god, these are hilarious. I *love* that it's John and Rodney versus, you know, everything else—I mean, they just *left* a galaxy where everything was trying to kill them! I think my favorite is Rodney vs. the Atlantic, although snow + worry + snowed-in sex is also for the win . . . basically, any misadventures that end in cuddling are good in my book. :D

And the two of them, the two of them -- it's natural now is SO SO LOVELY, oh.

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I mean, they just *left* a galaxy where everything was trying to kill them!

Poor boys! They can't catch a break :D

And the two of them, the two of them -- it's natural now is SO SO LOVELY, oh.

*smee!* Thank you! I may have to use that in an actual proper fic, because I like it so much. *wriggle*

Ahahah, Rodney v. Moose is hilarious and kinda cute.

Also, there aren't enough '♥♥♥' to express my love for the last set.

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Rodney v. Moose is hilarious and kinda cute.

Hee! I imagine the moose standing smack in the middle of the road, and Rodney's in the car, fuming and shouting and cursing, and the moose is like, "Hey, I think I'll hang out here all day."

there aren't enough '♥♥♥' to express my love for the last set.

*smeeble* Everybody loves Rodney :D

These are fabulous! Especially the Victor-as-The-Godfather quality to the Killing Elena five.

Also, the John/Rodney moments were great, especially labwork, with invites himself into that world with fingertips on Rodney's shoulder and lips against his neck.

Mmmmm.

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2007-04-28 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
As I told [livejournal.com profile] mardia, it's definitely a good thing Victor uses his powers for law and order :D

Mmmmm.

I had a fun time picturing that... the two of them alone in Rodney's lab and Rodney completely absorbed in equations while John watches :) (Just watching = one of HF's bulletproof I WILL READ THIS FIC things.)

[identity profile] linderhill.livejournal.com 2007-04-29 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
SNERK! yes, it is, indeed good that the Fitzgeralds are on the side of good! I just had a thought out of the blue...how would Viv deal with the "personalities" of SG:A? I can picture her now giving Ronon the "bitch please" look.

[identity profile] linderhill.livejournal.com 2007-04-29 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
ooooo, I forgot, LONG LIVE DR. BIRKENSTOCK!!!

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2007-04-29 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
just had a thought out of the blue...how would Viv deal with the "personalities" of SG:A? I can picture her now giving Ronon the "bitch please" look.

Ronon would cower in fear. John and Rodney would go off to sulk, and Danny and Martin will tell them how things are going to be from now on. Meanwhile, Viv and Teyla will take over Atlantis, and when the Wraith come, Viv will be all, "Wraith, I have a teenage son. Don't give me that attitude," and the Wraith will apologize and be grounded to their rooms for the next ten thousand years. They'll also become vegetarians, because Viv is that scary.

And Dr. Birkenstock FTW! :D

[identity profile] linderhill.livejournal.com 2007-04-30 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
this needs to be written! pleez, pleez, pleez!
