Brain update

I was kind of wired from the picspam last night and ended up not falling asleep until 3 or so.

Woke up five hours later and put flour in my coffee. X>

Dubious start.

Thank you fandom.

Oh my God, another night of this and it's going to be salt tomorrow morning. Or baking soda.

[identity profile] sollersuk.livejournal.com 2007-07-29 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I was just wondering whether or not flour was worse than salt.

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2007-07-30 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
I think the salt would be worse (not that I'm planning to find out). The coffee was strong enough that it masked the taste of the flour (I drink espresso), but the consistency was a bit bizarre--and I was puzzled as to why the coffee was so bitter.

*sporfle* Good one!

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2007-07-29 05:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Not when you're drinking it! XD

But you woke up happy :D! Still staring at the picspam!

But you woke up happy :D!

That's true! Things balance out.

put flour in my coffee

Was it any good? I like to get new inputs for improving my kitchen talents.

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2007-07-29 05:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Was it any good?

It was kind of like coffee gravy. All I needed to do was have a whisk instead of a teaspoon, and I would have been all set.

Usually when I'm half asleep I forget to put either water or coffee in the coffee maker, so the flour is a new thing for me.

so, hi. after said picspam i friended you, because. awesome. (plus your fic + art + occasional picspams = i kinda adore you, in a not creepy-LJ-lurker at all kinda way)

also i swear i did not laugh at the flour in the coffee. probably, if i put sugar in my coffee regularly, i would do that like, every three days.

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2007-07-29 05:20 pm (UTC)(link)
*squee! Yay!*

= i kinda adore you, in a not creepy-LJ-lurker at all kinda way

As long as you don't look in my bedroom window at night (or any other time of the day) :D

probably, if i put sugar in my coffee regularly, i would do that like, every three days.

I'm surprised I haven't already done it :>

If you're going to put flour in your coffee, you might as well do something with it. . .

BLACK MAGIC CAKE

1 1/2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
3/4 cup Cocoa
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
2 eggs
1 cup strong black coffee
1 cup butter milk or sour milk (1 T vinegar in 1 cup milk)
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 tsp vanilla

Combine flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder and salt in large mixing bowl. Add eggs, coffee, milk, oil and vanilla. Beat at medium speed for 2 minutes (Batter will be thin) Pour batter into two 9 inch cake pans or one 14 inch rectangle.

Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes (35 to 40 for 14 inch).

Frost with vanilla, chocolate, coconut or coffee frosting.

I knew I forgot the sugar, cocoa, baking soda & powder, salt, eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla! :D

Oh my GOD this sounds amazing. And my roommate is fantastic in the kitchen, so she'll like this too.

Copied from the back of a much rusted and battered Hershey's Cocoa can found in Mom's recipe drawer. :)

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2007-07-29 05:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Those can be the best!

[identity profile] barefoot-chick.livejournal.com 2007-12-05 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
I might just have all the ingredients to make this. It sounds amazing.

*makes plans to snurch some coffee from the roommates*

[identity profile] just-ruth.livejournal.com 2007-12-05 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
Enjoy! It's a from a battered, rusted can of Hershey's cocoa my mother had tucked in the back of her recipe drawer. :)

Flour? Really? Well, that's an interesting one. *pets*

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2007-07-29 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
That's one way to put it. I was all, "Why does my coffee taste weird?" Then I looked at the jars on the counter and saw that the flour one was open.

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2007-07-29 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
It was a curious experience :>

First: Sorry fandom messed up your coffee.
Second: Hi! I keep ending up in your journal, first artwork then fic then picspams.. So I've decided to friend you, make sure I don't miss anything. Promise I won't bite :)

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2007-07-30 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
For the fun of picspam-related squee, I can forgive fandom almost anything, even the coffee :>
