.artfic: Crash - John/Rodney (PG)

I wasn't going to post this until next week, but asdlkjf I really needed to get something out of today, you know?

.Crash
comic-sort of art by [livejournal.com profile] aesc (John/Rodney, Nantucket AU [index])

.notes: graphic novelesque story, a very short sequel to Contour, to wrap up the angstiness [livejournal.com profile] dogeared got started with "Fall."

CRASH

I crashed.

Imagine losing your genius, waking up and not knowing how stars work, why time is, or whatever.

Anyway, so I was on a mission and BANG, I got hit.

And i fell.

When I woke up I couldn't fly.

(I was sca--pissed.)

After, I used to wake up sometimes and think I can't fly anymore.

(and that... still pisses me off.)

But now I wake up and you're here.

-end-

And then, some art I did for the cover to [livejournal.com profile] cybel's podbook of [livejournal.com profile] astolat's "Tango", which you can find here.

Ohhhh. I -- ohhh. That is an incredibly powerful and moving piece of art, and a beautiful addition to the Nantucket 'verse you all are building piece by heart-achey piece. John's deep pain that he can barely think about, let alone talk about -- covering it with anger -- and the comparison of being grounded to losing the ability to think, which shocks and horrifies Rodney -- and that last line, that last line... Ohhh.

Not to mention -- ha -- the art part of it, with the explosion and bright red splotch of color for the BANG which is fantastic, as is John's world turning upside-down with the "and I fell," and the sky trailing off to the sea as the story progresses, and the colors and the photos and yes.

Oh, thank you so much! I have to confess the thought of John being grounded makes me happy in that deeply angsty hurting-the-one-you-love kind of way. And that Rodney would relate to that sort of loss by thinking about losing what makes him *him*... yes.
