yay yay yay!

Finally finally finally, I'm through my field exams, and I am one more step closer to being Dr. [livejournal.com profile] aesc!

Only, you know, with less astrophysics. But. I do have the orange fleece and a REALLY REALLY HUGE GRIN on my face.

Now, I am going to finish my wine and spend some time in bed.

And I know this is completely ridiculous and a sad sign of where my priorities are, but I'm really really excited about being able to write about something that involves more boys than a lot of my current material does.

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! Congrats! :)

YAY!!!!!!

As someone who had a freakout and flaked on her master's degree majorly, I salute you. Grad school is all about endurance.

*twirls you about!*

[identity profile] tex.livejournal.com 2008-01-29 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
Not sure how much rest you'd get lying between THOSE two hot bodies. Yum.

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-01-29 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
Well, you will note I did mention the bed, but nothing about sleep ;)

[identity profile] tex.livejournal.com 2008-01-29 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
Good girl!

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-01-29 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
Grad school is all about endurance.

Either that or realizing that you really aren't good for much else other than reading petrified languages :D

*is smart [livejournal.com profile] aesc*

I'm so glad to hear it! Really big grin here, too!

[identity profile] amberlynne.livejournal.com 2008-01-29 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
Rodney is very impressed. John just sort of wants in your pants. It's a smart-is-sexy thing. He can't help it.

Congratulations!!! Yay for being done and wine and really huge grins!!

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-01-29 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
Eeeee, thank you!

Come to think of it, I think we've known each other for almost as long as I've been in higher education... definitely since my junior year of undergrad, which is... going on eight years now.

That's kind of strange :D

[identity profile] tropes.livejournal.com 2008-01-29 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
This too!

Although, to counter that, when I left school, I thought I wasn't much good for anything else and it turns out I was. Dire straits, I guess.

ANYWAY. I am SO EXCITED for you. If we were in the same place I would totally tacklehug you. :>

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-01-29 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
Rodney would totally see John's I want in [livejournal.com profile] aesc's pants look* and would be all, "You do know she studies English Literature, right? And that that really isn't a legitimate academic discipline?" And John would say, "As opposed to.... astrophysics?" And Rodney would say, "Yes."

* oh, if only such a thing existed

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-01-29 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you!!! Well, there is still the small matter of the dissertation, but out of everything the exams definitely seem to be the most stressful part of the endeavor :)

Congratulations on the exams!

[identity profile] amberlynne.livejournal.com 2008-01-29 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
And then John would just have to tell Jeannie and Rodney'd be out yet another Thanksgiving of tofurky.

Er. Wait. That really wouldn't work in your favor. Maybe John could just say he has a fantasy about doing it with two really smart doctors and Ronon would break him in half if he suggested Keller? ;)

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-01-29 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
Then Rodney would sniff and say, "Then it's going to be a two-year wait while she finishes the complete exercise in academic pointlessness that is a dissertation in English, and besides, I have two doctorates. That counts as doing it with two really smart doctors."

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-01-29 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you thank you thank you!

*accepts tacklehugs in absentia*

(We are also, I believe, in roughly the same neck of the woods? We should skulk around Chicago some time.)

(Oooooh yes. I am in northern metro Detroit, a.k.a. Tha Ghettoooooooo. I go to Ann Arbor a lot and Chicago occasionally. :>:>:> Let's.)

[identity profile] amberlynne.livejournal.com 2008-01-29 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Alas, I am not even two years from a doctorate, so I am not smart enough to come up with an argument for that. I guess you'll just have to convince Rodney to let you watch or something. *g*
