.comm! Cos it is of the pimp: go check out
sga_art! It's a new comm. for (SGA-only, subject to change) large art pieces (wallpaper, vids, traditional art... anything except icons), which have never really had one central home, but have been scattered across noticeboards and multiple-use communities. My presence on the mod list is strictly decorative...
summertea has been the organizing force behind it. So, yis, go check it out!
.seven things! Oh man. It's cold, grey, I have cramps, I'm still tired, still unable to write (anything), I do not want to go to this colloquium tomorrow, I hate that there will be a foot of snow on my car to brush off, and I just want to stay home and wish I had SciFi so I can watch John be pretty and angsty.
That's almost seven things about me, but probably not a remotely interesting seven. Like any of the following are interesting, but maybe speaking relatively, and anyway,
chebonne asked.
1.) I seriously love music in almost all its forms. Even though I can't play or sing to save my life (though I play a very mean air guitar, thank you), I can't imagine my life without it.
2.) Studying languages is also one of the coolest things I think I can find to do with my time. Daniels and Bright's The World's Writing Systems is one of the things I read for fun, and using language in stories always makes me happy. It is my geek button.
3.) When I'm totally failing at comprehending my work, I read popular science texts. Right now I'm wading through Roger Penrose's Road To Reality, which is mystifying, but I think I love the ideas behind everything he writes about more than the equations or logic that demonstrate them, which baffle me a little :>
4.) Although I've struggled against it all my life, I've finally had to admit that I share my dad's neat freak gene. This past year, I've found myself to be kind of hostile and uncompromising when it comes to cleaning. (This also has to do with dust, which aggravates my sinus issues [see below].)
5.) I can predict the weather with my head.
6.) My friends dragged me to senior prom, and the only dance I danced was with a guy who'd just been accepted to the Naval Academy. I think about him every now and then, because it's 11 years down the road, and I hope he's doing okay.
7.) I used to ride horses. This is pertinent for the item following.
.Outcast! I have to share this, because... I mean, well, how can I not?

HOW IS HE SO PERFECT? I CANNOT COPE.*
Now you can perhaps better understand point #7. It is, I think, impossible for me to overstate my absolute love/lust/adoration for this, because not only is John a pretty princess, he has his own horse, just like he begged his parents for years and years to let him have. Also, there is the fact that I rode for about 12 years before having to give it up as too expensive and impractical, so I have been a horse girl all my life, and hot guy + horse = asplodey!aitch. It also causes me to have inappropriate thoughts about John's thighs and twelve-year-old-boy thoughts about riding that pony.
I think my dream is, once I can write again, to write an AU in which John competes in three-day eventing and of course sucks at the dressage because he thinks it's boring. But his placing in major competitions is being hurt and SGA Pegasus (owned by a corporation) is about to get a new rider. Enter.... you guessed it.... Rodney McKay, very famous dressage coach who thinks people who fling themselves and their horses up and down hills are dangerous psychotics.
* Also: what the world needs at this point is someone with a John Sheppard action figure, access to a princess dress, and a model horse to combine these three things, take a picture, and post it. PRETTY PRINCESS JOHN AND HIS FAITHFUL STEED THIS MUST EXIST.
.next meme! Ask me for a fannish opinion, in any fandom I've ever shown any interest in. Ask about a character, a plot point, for speculation. Ask me about some meta issue, whatever. I'm [mostly] fearless.
.songs! a song that weirdly reminds me of John and Rodney, if only for the line "Can't nobody love me like you love me," which is very true of them, I think. Also, I think Rodney would appreciate the dexterity required for the pedal guitar: Robert Randolph & The Family Band's Nobodysoul, and while we're at it, John Mayer's Gravity, which is kind of John-like, even though Mayer is but a wee young thing.
.links! YAY. My day got much better when I was finally able to read
sheafrotherdon's always perfect Iowa AU, in the form of its brand-new installment The Ballad of the Lincoln Cafe, and then there is
siriaeve's latest installment to Nantucket, Size M, 100% cotton, which is about soft, over-washed, slightly shrunken t-shirts and the boys who wear them.
