.au prompts; turkeys; sexy music

Despite the long projects I'm excited to work on, I can't focus. Maybe I'm too excited, or else they don't have enough direction yet for me to start writing them. So.

.au prompts. SGA (John/Rodney preferred) or SPN. Give me an AU prompt, serious or cracked out beyond all belief, canon or complete, historical, fantasy, animal, genderswap, whatever you can think of, there is no limit, and you can be as specific or as general as you'd like. And I will write a swatch of something for you.

So, yis, prompt please!

.turkeys. The first turkeys of the new year, in the yard!

Their usual habit is to go through the yard, cross the stream (since it's mostly iced over now, they walk across), go up the hill on the opposite bank, through the yard of the house on the other side, and back up the street to the forest where they live.

.sexy music I've been listening a lot to the 2007 Crossroads Guitar Festival and asds;lkjdf another hot song: Doyle Bramhall II on "Rosie." Meep.

Rodney is a very exasperated professor! There are workmen repairing the roof RIGHT OVER HIS OFFICE. They are VERY LOUD. Plus he is going to a conference and HE HAS NO PANTS.

John Sheppard makes it all okay.

Oh, man. Do you know how hard it is for me to choose just ONE crazy AU prompt? I won't even do the hockey one because you've already written me football-related porn so I don't want to push my luck.

Ummm. Okay, I was thinking about this one the other day: The Sure Thing (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0090103/)

College freshman John (Gib) Gibson (Shep) Sheppard decides to go cross-country to visit his friend in California during winter break. Awaiting there is a bikini-clad babe whom his friend assures him is a "sure thing". Meanwhile, Allison Rodney, a cute (but somewhat anal retentive) girl guy at Gib's Shep's college has also decided to head out to California to see her boyfriend his girlfriend during break. Gib and Allison Shep and Rodney are thrust together on a road trip from hell, and somewhere along the way, they find each other's company to be tolerable. Now, what will become of Gib's Shep's "sure thing?"

For a minute there in my haze of illness I thought you meant your AU prompt was turkeys + sexy music. ...Wow. That could be uh... Nevermind.

So! Prompts? Rodney inherits a crappy apartment that he has to manage and John is a slacker tenant? Sister Act AU (or in-series hilarity) where one of the boys has to hide out in a nunnery while the other has to run it or break in or something.

I'm jealous that you see turkeys all the time! Where I live all I see is crazy squirrels performing ninja feats and attacking people.

Let's see. AU. In which:

the sun is dying and the atlantis crew are sent on a mission to reignite it with a payload, a total Sunshine ripoff

john and rodney are actually a part of the spartan army of 300

rodney is actually daniel and is with sg-1 and instead of him, john goes to atlantis with daniel

In which I manage to have some kind of idea while writing up these lame excuses for AUs and then forget it just as quickly as it came to me. How I love my brain.

I am ferociously jealous of your turkey pix. During the last few years I have attempted to photograph a wild turkey and the only one I was able to take was through the windshield of my car and they were moving so fast they're just little blurs. :((

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-01-02 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
The only way I can take pictures of the turkeys is by hiding inside and using the zoom :/ Every time I try to step outside (they're only 15-20 feet away), they see/hear me and go zooming off at full speed.

And they really are fast! I was once riding my bike up on a trail in Central Florida, and three of them shot right out maybe a couple feet in front of my bike. And they're very stealthy too, so it was like, *ride ride ride* OMGWTF TURKEY! and then they vanished into nowhere.

Funny you should say this, but I was once heard to whine loudly that I really wanted to read the SGA/SPN crossover where Dean Winchester and John Sheppard meet in a bar [or wherever], get rat-arsed and try to out-do each other with tales of heroic self sacrifice and suicidal tendencies when the fate of their loved ones is in question.

I was also hankering after The SPN/X-Files crossover where the mother burning on the ceiling is an X-File and when the kids start to act up, Mulder and Skully investigate. At first I was all OMG! Mulder/Dean! Then I thought about it and Dean started to flirt with Scully who is all WTF? and then Sam and Mulder BOND and get their brainbox-geek on. And then I combusted...

Also, nice turkeys. ;)

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2008-01-02 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I am fanatically devoted my McKay/Sheppard OTP, but the one pairing that has made me be heretical for a moment is John/Dean. I was writing a crossover that will never ever see the light of day (because it is horrible) and the entire time I was like "oh my God, Dean totally has it for John, and he isn't even supposed to!" It was completely unplanned.

There are only two things John Sheppard cares about: raising his son and keeping the law in Applegate, North Carolina. Then Rodney McKay moves to town, stirring up the locals and putting him to the test...as a cop, a father and a man. He's pretty darn sure the alluring llama trekker isn't who he seems. But once he uncovers the secret that's got McKay on the run, can he keep Rodney—the man he wants more than anything to stay—from fleeing yet again?

Princess Bride SGA-style.

Um um um. What else?

the team as the Fantastic Four.

Something Cole Porter-esque, music/feel/timeline-wise; Rodney as an aging diva who now directs, Shep as a stagehand who ends up sitting in for a missing leading man.

Rodney as a slightly-less-gay-and-more-bitchy Gok Wan (http://youtube.com/results?search_query=gok+wan&search=Search), Sheppard as the poor sap who's being made over.

I read your request as wanting ".au" prompts - as in Australia - and the only thing I could think of was the Man From Snowy River.
But I really like the John as FBI agent prompt above, if only because he's so sexy in the dark suit & white shirt w/ shoulder holster (yeah, yeah, JFlan was NSA in Thoughtcrimes, but FBI dress like that, too, right? er, at least they did in XFiles... :P)
If Rodney's not the mouthy witness in need of protection, he'd make a great forensics guy, complaining about the field agents mucking up his crime scene.

Eee, okay, scratch that--just saw the prompt you fulfilled that worked w/ mine.

So instead, I'm just going to snatch my idea from a Regency romance I once read: Rodney McKay, an unhappy widower living in the wilds of (fill in the blank) teaching the town children, has a problem-- his wife's murderer has left him ten thousand pounds that can only be claimed once he remarries. To make matters worse, his wife's infuriating--yet oddly attractive--and filthy rich cousin, John Sheppard, has recently appeared, demanding that Rodney return home to where he belongs.

John Sheppard has always gotten everything he ever wanted--until he met Rodney McKay and promply lost him to his cousin. Now that he has a second chance at a lost love, will he fail yet again?

My first thought went to an AU based off The Road to El Dorado.

The story is about two swindlers who get their hands on a map to the fabled city of gold, El Dorado while pulling off some sort of scam. Their plan goes bad and the rogues end up lost at sea after a number of misfortunes. Oddly enough, they end up on the shores of El Dorado and are worshipped by the natives for their foreign appearance.

and then, it went to Bones!AU
