Got it! Rodney's an engineer, Ronon teaches martial arts (or is maybe an artist!), and John is a pilot. One day, John's ex-wife/girlfriend Nancy leaves the kid on the doorstep while John's out of town. Wacky dorky hijinks ensue! \o/

Or, in canon, the Planet of the Week's cruel joke is sort of like that egg thing in health/sex ed, where you had to take care of an egg with a partner. Only, Rodney, John, and Ronon have to take care of a real live baby for a month. Wacky dorky hijinks ensue! \o/

I was just being simple and thinking Teyla (having to, I don't know, go away on an extended diplomatic mission for the Athosians or something), but yours totally works, too! Just the thought of those three sharing an apartment, let alone adding the baby.
