gratuitous Friday night I-have-no-attention-span! post

Today was much better than yesterday... busy, but the kind of busy that accomplishes things. Also, I saw Bones for the first time tonight and LOFFED it, omg. Bones and Booth are kind of stupidly adorable in their bickering... I'm not sure why I like watching chemistry that expresses itself through arguing and back-and-forth (Rodney and John, Sam and Dean), but I do) a;ksljdsdlkjsd;lkjsd

One minor note of irritation: WHY DO ALL MY ICONS LOOK LIKE ASS SRSLY??? *hands of frustration* I don't know what it is, but I have made and remade and finally unmade about 10 icons over the past several days, and they all look not very good at all. GRAH. Also, my icons are starting to look more and more like everyone else's, with the lightly-textured background and portrait-type subject. I like that sort of style, but I don't want to rehash the latest trend *more hands*

But here, have an LOLOWL:

Now, I am going to go and watch last night's SPN.

In the meantime, how are YOU ALL?

.eta: Wee snippet of some SGA/Bones here, because [livejournal.com profile] amberlynne needs some tormenting.

Like, first time, first time watching of Bones? Like, the only ep you've ever seen? I sort of LOOOOVE that show a whole bunch and yessss, they BICKER and snark but oh, oh they're always there for one another. (They have unbelievable UST that is still going strong in the second half of s4.)

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2009-02-07 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, first time-first time :D And I did gather the always-there-for-one-anotherness; I saw the one where they're investigating some older murders (one Mob-related, the other one by a guy Booth couldn't nab because of lack of evidence) and at the end with the hugging and holding on *flaps about*

jdflhsg Oh god - do you plan on watching anymore? Because the penultimate always-there-for-one-another ep is probably s2's Alien in a Spaceship. GAH, I love that episode. OR oh oh, the Christmas ep from s3 whose name is escaping me at the moment.

I really, really love them.

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2009-02-07 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
Ohhhh yes yes, I definitely am! I will probably have to devote my weekend to downloading previous episodes :D

If I figure out how to rip DVDs on my MAC, I have all 3 seasons on DVD and a few eps from S4 that I can upload for you.

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2009-02-07 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
tvtorrents is behaving now \o/ Am working my way through S1 as we speak!

[identity profile] rilestar.livejournal.com 2009-02-07 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
Dude, Bones! \o/ We got into it during season 3, and we went and bought seasons 1&2 and we're waiting on the boxset of 3 at the moment. In a way it reminds me of SGA, in that the stories aren't always that good, but the characters are wonderful and the relationship between Bones & Booth is eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee fantastic!

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2009-02-07 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
Yayyy, that is kind of the impression I get :D :D Already I am glaring impatiently at Vuze as it pokes through the first three eps. from S1 :D HURRY UP, VUZE!!!!!

[identity profile] shaenie.livejournal.com 2009-02-07 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
I stole your LOWL. He was just too cute. I couldn't stand it.

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2009-02-07 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
Isn't he adorable? Owls are cute anyway, but LOWLS are cutest!

I am watching the pilot now, yay!

And I do love LOWLs too :D

Okay, fair warning: the first (half of the first) season is pretty slow. This is actually a show that gets better with the seasons, instead of degenerating after s1.

[identity profile] highonstargate.livejournal.com 2009-02-07 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
Bones is the best!

But If you watched last nights episode, then you must watch season's 2 "Aliens in a space ship"!!

And the arguing makes me think also of John/Rodney and Sam/Dean!:D

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2009-02-07 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
I actually watched another ep., I think from S2, that was a rerun on TNT :D And I liked it so much I have now started hunting up previous seasons. Oh, obsession...

[identity profile] let-fate-decide.livejournal.com 2009-02-07 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
\o/ that LOWL totally made grin. YAY!

I'm doin' pretty great, personally. Completely freaking out about BSG at the moment (why don't you watch this show, anyhow? haha.) and also now very sad because my favorite character just got killed :\ but yeah. Life is nice. It was 70 degrees here today!

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2009-02-07 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
Happy LOWL is happy!

I'm doin' pretty great, personally. Completely freaking out about BSG at the moment (why don't you watch this show, anyhow? haha.)

I did actually watch the first season (and I even have it on DVD, heh), but for some reason the second season couldn't keep my attention. Maybe once I've worked my way through Bones I'll go back through BSG :D

[identity profile] let-fate-decide.livejournal.com 2009-02-07 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
He is!

And you should, yes :D the second season was really pretty boring, it lagged a bit more than the other seasons, especially after season one which was ACTION ALL THE TIME. But season three was great, and season four's... well. It's a lot of damn stuff packed into one season, that's for sure.

I miss SGA :( I've not read any fic since it ended. Actually, I think it started a little bit before the finale, sad as that is. Bah :\

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2009-02-07 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
I did get that impression... I think I watched maybe the first three episodes, but really could not keep going with it. Maybe now that I know the third and fourth seasons are good, that will get me through S2 :D

Oddly, I am enjoying the SGA fic more now that the show's run is over. I think it's partly the relief that the writers can't screw anything up anymore and now we are all free to plaaaaay!

[identity profile] let-fate-decide.livejournal.com 2009-02-07 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. Damn. I'm sorry, SGA! As much as I love you, you are nothing compared to BSG, haha.

O rly? I don't know what it is. I just can't get into it anymore. Of course, it probably doesn't help that I don't believe I've watched SGA since it ended.

[identity profile] amberlynne.livejournal.com 2009-02-07 05:58 am (UTC)(link)
YAY BONES! You will watch it and LOVE THEM SO MUCH! AND THEN! Then you can write me the SGA/Bones crossover I have been dreaming about, wherein Booth and Sheppard know each other from SEKRIT ARMY AIR FORCE MISSIONS and bond over their socially-awkward-yet-ridiculously-hot scientist significant others! \o/

OMG!!! Yes, please. That right there. I need it immediately, if not sooner.

As for your LOWL - "I don't know what that means." I say that at work just to watch people (who don't watch Bones) look at me oddly. Which they do quite a bit, as I'm sure you can imagine.

How can you deny your icons? Why, the Aretha!hat mashups will live forever. Stop doubting, you!

Curse my sad current lack of Bones icons! Here, pretend this is Bones' next Halloween costume.

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2009-02-07 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee, well, I doodled out a little bit of SGA/Bones in the comment below, for purposes of [livejournal.com profile] amberlynne-tormenting, but you can read it too :D

How can you deny your icons?

Heh, the only reason why those icons are any good is because they were four times larger when I originally made them :D For some reason, I've completely lost by ability to work in small spaces *sigh*
elderwitty: a close-up of the center, swirling petals of a deep pink tea rose (Default)

[personal profile] elderwitty 2009-02-07 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)
How is that tormenting? Oh, wait, YOU STOPPED, YOU HEATHEN! Stop doing that, willya? I'll be over there, patiently re-reading. *crosses arms, taps foot*

Heh, the only reason...

A) Doesn't everybody work large, and then shrink it down? It's the only way I've been able to do mine, especially if there's text. Not that I'm the standard, but it just seems the logical way to do it.

B) That's NOT the only reason. You had to get the concept, decide on the theme, find the bases to fit, meld the images, add the text, and still have it be accessible in the smaller size. That requires the ability to envision how it will be affected by the size shift, which is hard. So there.

C) I'm not saying you, I'm saying I, have, on occasion, managed to whammy myself (temporarily) out of certain skills. For the last week, I couldn't type a 'B' in a part number at work without looking at the keys. Regular typing is fine, I've just convinced myself somehow that I can't do it right there. I'm sure your small-space ability is merely mislaid for the moment, and will reappear shortly.

As for your original contention that all your icons are same-y...well, I don't see it, but if it is so, then that is obviously what is interesting you right now. (Ya know, sort of how Ansel Adams had that penchant for black and silver nature, or how George Hurrell enjoyed making portraits of stars lit just so. Nobody calls their stuff repetitive.) Also, there's no 'rehashing' in making a style your own. Next might be your blue period. Just - no soup cans, okay? They've been done. *g*

"Sheppard?"

"Booth?"

"Sheppard!"

"Booth!"

Probably at this point, with two guys pounding each other's shoulders to cover up the fact they're really hugging, Angela would start making Brokeback Mountain noises. As it is, Brennan stares and doesn't say anything, because sloppy dark-haired guy looks awfully happy, in a surprised "what the hell?" sort of way, and Booth is looking at him--at Sheppard--like he'd just come back from the dead.

"Jesus, man," Sheppard says, stepping back, folding in on himself again despite the smile. He's older than Booth, greying a bit and with crow's feet, and there's a slouch in his shoulders that says maybe his spine doesn't believe in military rigor. But he is military; Brennan can tell that in a heartbeat. "It's been ages."

"Yeah," Booth says stupidly. He shoves his hands in his pockets. "Where the hell have you been?"

"Oh, you know." Sheppard offers a vague gesture that takes in the airport and the greater DC area. Maybe even the Milky Way. "Here and there."

Booth says, "Well, hell, you look good," only he doesn't sound quite as happy, more relieved like maybe he'd thought the next time he'd see Sheppard would be dead in a back alley somewhere, and Brennan definitely doesn't know what that means.

"Are you going to introduce me?" Sheppard eels around the awkwardness, and swivels a bit to peer at Brennan. His gaze is shockingly direct.

"Um." Booth pauses, almost enough time for Brennan to start to introduce herself, Temperance Brennan, but an explosion of foot-stomping and paper-rustling, an indignant announcement that the stupid airline screwed up our--

"Oh my god, will you stop it?" The rustling stops in favor of an irritated huff, and the dervish resolves into another middle-aged guy, definitely not military, definitely irritated. "Sheppard, I don't care that you almost managed to beat Ronon last week, that guy could kick your ass." His eyes are bright and blue, and Brennan can feel her blood pressure go up--the guy's got that much energy, he's making her antsy. "I'm sorry," he says to her, crisp, quick voice, "there's no excuse for him."

"Um," Booth says again. Brennan elbows him, and again until he makes the introductions, exaggerated introductory gestures and all. "John Sheppard, this is Temperance Brennan. Temperance Brennan, this is John Sheppard."

"And this," Sheppard says happily, "is Rodney McKay."

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2009-02-07 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I think Rodney is in for a big surprise when he tries to mock Bones's PhD :D

Omfg, this is possibly the best crossover ever! SGA/Bones? Yay! My two favorite fandoms! I recommend watching all 4.5 seasons immediately. Bones and Booth are so frickin' cute.

Any plans to do more?

Hee, Bones! I started out feeling that it was as if they were all like... 15 (because they're all youngish and pretty) but then I got sucked into the adorableness of Bones/Booth and the awesomeness of Angela and here we are. I LOVE the reruns of TNT--did you catch the one where they're all quarantined in the Jeffersonian, "The Man in the Fallout Shelter"? Too cute. It's also a show that is easy to find online for great catching up. \o/

Also, tangential excitement, though I was in a mild fender-bumper, my car is fine and my coffee dude gave me free coffee ('cause I was having such a Day) and I just finished painting my toenails a color called "Get Reddy".

...I'm also a little sleep-deprived, canya tell? :D

[identity profile] aesc.livejournal.com 2009-02-07 03:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Also, tangential excitement, though I was in a mild fender-bumper,

Eeeep, I'm happy to hear you're okay, minor fender-bender or not *hugs* And that both you and your car are unscathed, and you have an awesome and sympathetic coffee guy!!

but then I got sucked into the adorableness of Bones/Booth and the awesomeness of Angela and here we are.

I love Angela a whole lot, too :D I think the three of them kind of make the show for me, although Hodges and his conspiracy theories also amuse me :D I learned last night, actually, that my roommate (whom I never would have suspected of such a thing) watches the show, and has been watching reruns when she can. Literally I have seen... three episodes so far, the one rerun last night (with the dead mob guy and the poor girl who got her eyes carved out of their sockets) and then the first two eps of S1.

Thank goodness for the internet, that's all I'm sayin' :D
