gratuitous Friday night I-have-no-attention-span! post
Today was much better than yesterday... busy, but the kind of busy that accomplishes things. Also, I saw Bones for the first time tonight and LOFFED it, omg. Bones and Booth are kind of stupidly adorable in their bickering... I'm not sure why I like watching chemistry that expresses itself through arguing and back-and-forth (Rodney and John, Sam and Dean), but I do) a;ksljdsdlkjsd;lkjsd
One minor note of irritation: WHY DO ALL MY ICONS LOOK LIKE ASS SRSLY??? *hands of frustration* I don't know what it is, but I have made and remade and finally unmade about 10 icons over the past several days, and they all look not very good at all. GRAH. Also, my icons are starting to look more and more like everyone else's, with the lightly-textured background and portrait-type subject. I like that sort of style, but I don't want to rehash the latest trend *more hands*
But here, have an LOLOWL:

Now, I am going to go and watch last night's SPN.
In the meantime, how are YOU ALL?
.eta: Wee snippet of some SGA/Bones here, because
amberlynne needs some tormenting.

As for your LOWL - "I don't know what that means." I say that at work just to watch people (who don't watch Bones) look at me oddly. Which they do quite a bit, as I'm sure you can imagine.
How can you deny your icons? Why, the Aretha!hat mashups will live forever. Stop doubting, you!
Curse my sad current lack of Bones icons! Here, pretend this is Bones' next Halloween costume.

How can you deny your icons?
Heh, the only reason why those icons are any good is because they were four times larger when I originally made them :D For some reason, I've completely lost by ability to work in small spaces *sigh*

Heh, the only reason...
A) Doesn't everybody work large, and then shrink it down? It's the only way I've been able to do mine, especially if there's text. Not that I'm the standard, but it just seems the logical way to do it.
B) That's NOT the only reason. You had to get the concept, decide on the theme, find the bases to fit, meld the images, add the text, and still have it be accessible in the smaller size. That requires the ability to envision how it will be affected by the size shift, which is hard. So there.
C) I'm not saying you, I'm saying I, have, on occasion, managed to whammy myself (temporarily) out of certain skills. For the last week, I couldn't type a 'B' in a part number at work without looking at the keys. Regular typing is fine, I've just convinced myself somehow that I can't do it right there. I'm sure your small-space ability is merely mislaid for the moment, and will reappear shortly.
As for your original contention that all your icons are same-y...well, I don't see it, but if it is so, then that is obviously what is interesting you right now. (Ya know, sort of how Ansel Adams had that penchant for black and silver nature, or how George Hurrell enjoyed making portraits of stars lit just so. Nobody calls their stuff repetitive.) Also, there's no 'rehashing' in making a style your own. Next might be your blue period. Just - no soup cans, okay? They've been done. *g*

"Booth?"
"Sheppard!"
"Booth!"
Probably at this point, with two guys pounding each other's shoulders to cover up the fact they're really hugging, Angela would start making Brokeback Mountain noises. As it is, Brennan stares and doesn't say anything, because sloppy dark-haired guy looks awfully happy, in a surprised "what the hell?" sort of way, and Booth is looking at him--at Sheppard--like he'd just come back from the dead.
"Jesus, man," Sheppard says, stepping back, folding in on himself again despite the smile. He's older than Booth, greying a bit and with crow's feet, and there's a slouch in his shoulders that says maybe his spine doesn't believe in military rigor. But he is military; Brennan can tell that in a heartbeat. "It's been ages."
"Yeah," Booth says stupidly. He shoves his hands in his pockets. "Where the hell have you been?"
"Oh, you know." Sheppard offers a vague gesture that takes in the airport and the greater DC area. Maybe even the Milky Way. "Here and there."
Booth says, "Well, hell, you look good," only he doesn't sound quite as happy, more relieved like maybe he'd thought the next time he'd see Sheppard would be dead in a back alley somewhere, and Brennan definitely doesn't know what that means.
"Are you going to introduce me?" Sheppard eels around the awkwardness, and swivels a bit to peer at Brennan. His gaze is shockingly direct.
"Um." Booth pauses, almost enough time for Brennan to start to introduce herself, Temperance Brennan, but an explosion of foot-stomping and paper-rustling, an indignant announcement that the stupid airline screwed up our--
"Oh my god, will you stop it?" The rustling stops in favor of an irritated huff, and the dervish resolves into another middle-aged guy, definitely not military, definitely irritated. "Sheppard, I don't care that you almost managed to beat Ronon last week, that guy could kick your ass." His eyes are bright and blue, and Brennan can feel her blood pressure go up--the guy's got that much energy, he's making her antsy. "I'm sorry," he says to her, crisp, quick voice, "there's no excuse for him."
"Um," Booth says again. Brennan elbows him, and again until he makes the introductions, exaggerated introductory gestures and all. "John Sheppard, this is Temperance Brennan. Temperance Brennan, this is John Sheppard."
"And this," Sheppard says happily, "is Rodney McKay."

I was totally thinking of setting it after "The Old World," because Brennan would be TOTALLY intrigued by photos of old dessicated people! And John and Rodney would be on Earth anyway a;lsdjsdl;kjs

Omfg, this is possibly the best crossover ever! SGA/Bones? Yay! My two favorite fandoms! I recommend watching all 4.5 seasons immediately. Bones and Booth are so frickin' cute.
Any plans to do more?
