I got my desktop back today and it is all better now. Oh, desktop, don't leave me again!
ALSO. ALSO. OMG THIS IS EVEN MORE AWESOME.
Remember how Layla, my laptop, died a few months back? I couldn't resuscitate her because I couldn't find my Windows installation disk or my system recovery disks, and I was bummed because I'd been hoping to not to have to tap into money I want to save for traveling next year (more on that in a second). Also, Layla has been around the world with me, and aside from a crack in her screen, she's in pretty good shape.
WELL.
TODAY I FOUND THE RECOVERY DISKS. AND THEY WORKED!!! THE SYSTEM IS NOW IN ITS 2003 CONFIGURATION LOL BUT I AM UPDATING ALL THE SOFTWARE AND EVERYTHING AND OMG OMG OMG MY LAPTOP IS BACK FROM THE DEAD!!!!
I've renamed her Dean XD
In more good news: My dad just sent me a bunch of stuff for this life insurance policy I never knew I had. It's not worth a whole ton of money, but if I cash it out now I will still have enough to put towards a plane ticket to go YOU KNOW WHERE,![[profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)

GOOD NEWS FINALLY!!! ALSO I RAN INTO MY ADVISOR TODAY AND HE SAID MY DISSERTATION CHAPTER WAS NOT TOO BAD. OBV. IT NEEDS REVISING BUT IT IS NOT A DISASTER.
